I used to work for an off road jeep shop and we had build a CJ7 for a guy with a 502 stroker. The customer wanted the thing to be real loud on the street but quite when in his neighborhood at night. So we in stalled a full "H" pipe exhaust with mufflers. Then about 2-3 feet down from the headers we installed 2 exhaust valves, one for each pipe. Wired them to a switch in the cab. With a flick of a switch the exhaust would be redirected to hidden side pipes. (In case he was pulled over)

I'm thinking of a similar system. Maybe I will keep the cats and run some sort of side pipe.

 

I know I'm late to the party here by only a few years, but recently acquired an S-Type R and would love to get a set of long tube headers and a twin screw on my car. Did anything ever happen with these headers? contact stainlessworks for a decent price? any advice? thanks guys

 

No-one wanted them. There just is no interest or need on even an STR.

avos got 600HP and then 700HP on the AJ V8 using a TS so if you want more power that's the way to go.
