STR parts car value?
After an unfortunate coolant loss incident, the engine in my '03 STR is toast. In order to decide what to do next (repair vs sell for parts), I need an idea of what the car might be worth sans engine.
So...what's a ballpark figure for this car if it is sold for parts? It's got about 75k miles, and the only mechanical mods are the K&N air filter with the 'Mafioso' intake elbow piece sold through this forum a few years ago.

I paid $2500 for my 03 STR a few months back. Body is pristine and interior is nearly perfect. I recently passed up 2 different tired STRs with something major wrong with them in the $1800 to $2500 range.
The problem with all S-types that that need a new engine is that even if you do all the work yourself, the cost of rebuilding a new engine and the labor to install costs more than the car is worth.
Therefore you better be in love with your STR and be willing to drop $6K to $10K into it, for a reliable new engine. Finding a supercharged engine with low mileage is very rare these days. There are still a few 4.2 long blocks available from dealers in the $5K to $7K range.

If you decide to sell parts post back to the list.
I need the child seat tie down plastic cover for the center tie down on the rear package tray. Got the car detailed and that came back missing.

It appears that the coolant hose that attaches to the expansion tank became dislodged at the usual failure point (the plastic nipple that always cracks/breaks). So...at about 80mph and in 90-degree weather, separation/coolant loss/overheating/engine seizure all took place in rapid succession.
It was official a few days ago, the car is a loss--I'm rather hesitant to spend $9500 on this car. I bought an Audi S4 yesterday, hopefully it treats me well. I looooooved this Jaguar though...sigh

When I have the car towed back to my house, I'll look for it--I know that the same item came off in my car , but I think I stuck it in the console or something.
It is a shame to see another 03/04 STR culled from the pride. I recall commenting in another thread that as this generation of S-types ages there will be a rapid decline in numbers because it costs way more to keep them alive than they are worth. I wonder how few STRs will remain on the road before their value begins to increase????

No factory navigation, but I had an aftermarket 6" touch screen nav system installed in-dash a few years ago.
I had the same plastic piece crack on mine and lost coolant, fortunately though it was winter time and I only noticed the temp go up if I stopped moving.
If you do decide to part the car out, I have a list of things I'm looking for.

Mine had been cracked for some time and I had also lost some coolant (down to the level where the nipple is located), but the hose was still connected--allowing for constant circulation. When this happened, the hose had become entirely detached from the expansion tank...spraying coolant everywhere except for back where it is supposed to go.
Here's the worst part of all of this: I had actually ordered a replacement expansion tank and hose, and the expansion tank was here two weeks ago, but the hose shipper sat on my order for a considerable amount of time, almost a month (despite giving me a 3-5 day estimate). The hose arrived one day after I lost this car.

When I cleaned my stuff out of the car a few days ago before selling it, I remembered to yank that plastic cover out of the car. IM me an address and I'll mail it to you.
