Default Water Pump Install

Guys,

Any advice to the following would be greatly appreciated.

I am in the process of changing out my water pump - 2000 S Type - 4.0 V8

1) Jaguar lists 2 different size O-Rings for the water pump - 55mm and 70mm - for the life of me cannot remember if I pulled off an O-Ring on the old water pump and an O-Ring in the cavity on the engine block. (The replacement water pump has a thin metal gasket and an O-Ring)

2) The replacement water pump I ordered has the metal fins - does this mean I need to use different coolant due to potential cavitation?

3) Any other surprises I should be prepared for? I am also changing out the cross over pipe & gaskets, the 2" by-pass hose off the thermostat housing, the cap on top of the thermostat housing and the serpentine belt - also performing a full coolant flush and refill as well once I get everything together.

Thanks in advance - Anthony

Default

In further digging on the forum it looks like the metal finned water pumps are upgraded to use only the thin metal gasket and NO O-Ring...

Two years have gone by with the metal water pump on my car and I've had no problems.
