Default Norma quick fit connector removal

Hi all,

Maybe the answer is blindingly obvious which is why I do not find many postings on the topic.

How do you release / open the quick fit connectors used on the smaller cooling and other hoses? Do I need a special tool?

Thanks.

If it's the connectors I'm thinking of, there IS a special tool. But you can improvise with a pair of small flat-blade screwdrivers.

Or you can use small brad nails - that's what I did. Stick them in at a right angle to the hose in the little slots on each side of the fitting and squeeze them. Many people break these.

. . . and many people cut them out and use a piece of 5/8" heater hose and a couple clamps to replace them. I could never get mine apart to repair the slow leak from the coupling.

Hey test point, I'm one of many people apparently. LOL

(and this comes from the guy who plumbed a bathroom radiator into the front of an old Landrover).

Default Quick Connect Fitings

Thanks for the PDF of the quick connect fitting tool.
I had trouble with the quick connects to the radiator tank when changing the water pump in our 2002. The quick connect was brittle form heat and broke while i was attempting to remove it. Had to make temporary repairs until I could get to the dealer for a replacemnt tube. The tool looks similar to the Ford fuel line retaining clips. I'll have to bring a couple home from the shop to try.

I have found a trmendous amount of good information just browsing this evening.
Thanks again - this is a great forum.

Default Breaking radiator hose connectors

I thought nothing of the frequent warnings I saw about these quick connect connections breaking until when replacing the thermostat I broke the top one off.. the one that feeds from the radiator to the top of the fluid top up bottle. I stressed about it, found my Jaguar dealer parts centre was shut (Sat afternoon) and went to Halfords. I brought two jubilee clips and got an offcut of hose next size up from the outside diameter of the special connectors for free. I ran a straight length from point to point, jubilee clipped both ends and it works a treat - only downside is it may get in the way of spark plug removal when the time comes. Wife thought I was mad.. but hey it works and is quite neat (all things considered :-))

Correction: the tool is 303-623 "Hose Remover"
Got two suppliers after a quick search.
The copper wire idea looks good.

Smile A Rose by any other...

The tool illustrated shows 'NORMA'

Isn't there any way I can pay 5 times as much for one proudly displaying 'JAGUAR'?

As if it wasn't already way too expensive as it was? lol. I really need to get my 3D printer ordered so I can just make my own bits and pieces like that. When I do, I'll look into adding the JAGUAR to the mold for ya lol

the AWG of the wire in my pics is 10 AWG...

works like a charm...having a set of lineman pliers makes it much easier to manipulate...i thought about using a 3D printer to print it as well...but the solid cooper wire works great...

I use a small pocket screw driver to lever the tab to open the clamp.
A pair of pliers to squeeze the clamp closed again.
