Default Thermo to London Sep 7/8

Hey all, I am getting to fly into London for the release of the Jaguar XE. I wasn't sure if some of the members near London would be up for a get together on those days. I don't know exactly what my schedule is going to be like, but I am hoping that there will be some time to get to see the sites a bit. As the time gets closer and I get a better idea of what the schedule is looking like, I will pass on the info. I know I fly into London on the 7th (Sun) and then they have a dinner planned. Then there will be the release on the 8th (Monday) and a concert that night. Then I will fly out some time on the 9th (Tues). That is about as detailed as I know right now. I am awaiting a call from the organizers with my itinerary.

Hope you can find some time Chris to meet up with any Jag owners that are around and can make those dates.

I have a sneaky suspicion though that the bulk of your time will be spoken for.

Please fill us in when you can!

Jim, having a full schedule can be a blessing and a curse all in the same statement. I figure I will be up fairly late Sunday night as I will still be on East coast (USA) time, so, when it is midnight there in London, it will only be 7 pm for me. We will see what happens.

OK Londoners, can you give me a little hint as to what this means. The dress attire for the reveal is "London Cool Attire". What does that mean? I am by no means a fashion type of guy. My idea of dressing up is jeans that are blue, the knees are not torn, and wearing a t-shirt that doesn't have a funny saying on the front. Please help.

"London Cool Attire" - an oxymoron?

I hope it's not code for TOWIE...

Well, I talked to the sponsors and they are saying that it is a very "wide" range of clothing due to the London fashion scene. It can be anything from higher end jeans and t-shirt to a 3 piece suit. It is more being in tune with the latest fashion for what you are wearing and also being confident in what you are wearing. So, that clears things right up. NOT. Oh well, I am going to go with some slacks and a Polo shirt and go from there. I should be right in the middle of the road with that. Worst case, I will bring a coat and have that on over if the temps are getting a little on the cool side.

Chris, your location will probably be a factor in determining who can link up with you, particularly if you have little free time. From what I can see online, the event is taking place at Earl's Court Exhibition Centre, so you'll probably be staying around that area, or possibly in Kensington (which is nearby and a bit more up-market). I'm about 40 min.s away across town.

Let us know where you're going to be, and what times you'll be free, and perhaps we can set something up.

Funnily enough Ngarara, you were one of the guys I had in mind that may be up for this.

Glad you chimed in

Ngarara, I am open to anything at the moment. Let me see what the more detailed schedule looks like. I am hoping to have some time to see the town and whatnot.

Between now and the trip, try get up early every morning (and sleep a little earlier). That will set your body clock closer to daylight in the UK.

BMW, I spent too many years on a submarine. I can get up at a moments notice and run for as long as I need. Time is a realitive thing when it comes to sleep. I am that guy that can lay down pretty much anywhere and lean my head back to go to sleep sitting up. But, you whisper my name and my eyes pop open and away I go. Frustrates those that know me as it blows their minds as to how I can do it.

On a side note, what you doing around Christmas time frame? I might be heading out to Seattle around then to spend Christmas with the grandkids and oldest. Nothing set in stone yet, but it is looking that way.

I wonder how many of us Jaguar North America is sending to London? I know it's at least two, Thermo and a U.S. BMW owner that hasn't yet been announced.

Chris ! even with a formal lounge suite , ties are no longer needed to be worn in Uk ( Unless occasion is formal ) Even TV newcasters have stopped wearing ties . Chinos , polo shirt & sharp sports jacket should look the part . I think a nice pair of slip on or deck shoes would look cool .I don't think 5 yr old trainers will look to good . I'm a100 miles west of London ( Bristol Area ) & havnt n been to the Capital for years . Have a great time .

For those interested, it is looking like I am going to be landing at LHR at 10 am on Sunday. I am going to see what the schedule is looking like, but I am sure that will leave some time for some meeting. then I am not leaving until a 4:30PM flight back on Tuesday. So, that may be even more time on Tuesday morning. Lets see what the event schedule is looking like and take things from there.

Ok, keep us posted - Sunday's a possibility for me, though it's the Italian Grand Prix at 1PM... Monday's OK, Tuesday I have to be in Birmingham by 1PM. Anyway, let us know when you're free. I'll PM you my contact details anyway; if nothing else, we can make contact by phone.

Sounds good guys, a chance at least of a get together for a few hours!

Maybe Steve Sheldon would be up for it too?
Not sure how close he is / isn't?

I'd love to come myself but even for a few hours there, it'd mean around an 18 hour day...lol

Hope to hear...
