Default 2004 Jaguar X-TYPE 3.0l awd a/c temps

Does anyone know if it's normal for the air conditioner to blow warm air when idiling or driving slowly in a parking lot. Thanks
James

YOu have 1 of 2 issues going on. YOu have a low freon charge. But, this will also show itself with one side being cold and the other hot when at speed. The other issue is your fan module is starting to go and your fans are not able to speed up like they need to to get sufficient air flow across the A/C condensor. You may also notice that the car will run a little warmer than normal at slow speeds. This will require a new fan module. Just a warning, there are 2 different fan modules out there for the X-Type and you need to make sure that you get the correct module and/or the newer module with the adapter plug (if you have an early 2004 car).

Default A/C Temps

Thank you, Thermo. I thought it might need freon, but what you said about the fan makes sense. It cools down nicely once you get to highway speeds, it's just when you are idiling or driving slowly that it just feels like regular air instead of refrigerated air.

having the same problem on the wife's '08.. started about a month ago.. going down the highway there's ice cubes blowing out the vents, stopped at a traffic light or going through a parking lot; lukewarm air.

'off to the pick your part yard for a replacement.. worse case scenario; I'll have to replace the resistors and maybe caps on both then have a spare for the '08 and '07.

Hi I seem to be having a problem with my fan control module same type and year . Apparently my module is the old type and I can’t find it brand new to save my life ! It has four plugins on the harness as well and the only ones I can find are new types which is cheap online but I have no idea where to find the harness for it cause no one sells it with the module. Am I searching it wrong ? I can’t seem to find the whole part including the harness anywhere . The old module has the harness attached already but I’m no electrical expert to fit it on the newer model

BloodyDmg Kills, you can either call up SNG Barrett (sponsor here) and they can hook you up with the controller and adapter harness or you can go to your local Jaguar dealership and they willl have the adapter harness there (getting the controller elsewhere to save some money). Granted, you can also try going to Jaguarparts.com and give them a call or send them an e-mail. they will be able to sort out the part you need. One bit of caution though with them. They have some really great prices, but you have to do it all over the internet. If you call them, the price goes up dramatically.

New unit with adaptor or alternatively contact Dr. Dome (a member) who parts out X's.

The module I can get for $32 on eBay but for some reason the harnesses are no where to be found . I’m trying to fix it cheap . Even a used old module is $60-80 with everything . Is it called a harness ? Are the connections for the module supposed to me more expensive then the module it self ?

BloddyDMG Kills, unfortunately, what you are experiencing is what a lot of people have experienced. The modules are cheap, getting the wiring to make the new module works is the expensive part. You can try finding a local wrecking yard and seeing if you can find the adapter harness that way or you can go to your dealership and order it through them. If you use the Search function here, you can even find a part number for the harness which may make finding the part easier.

I want to say that most people ended up paying about $100 for the harness to make this work.
