Battery questions?

Battery questions?
02 X-type
Needs a new battery. I have been looking at batteries and found that the Duralast and Interstate batteries look exactly like the original Jaguar one, same handles and everything. So I am assuming that Interstate and or Duralast supply Jaguar the batteries with a private label. My guess is Duralast is an Interstate battery labeled for Autozone.
What other options do I have? It seems that batteries for these cars are hard to find. Exide list one but there are no dealers close. What did you replace yours with and what was the cost?

RE: Battery questions?
I had trouble finding a battery for mine as well. No luck with Sears, but AutoZone had one in stock that was the right size. It was a Duralast, and normally I try to avoid that brand of parts, but it's held up great over the past 18 months. It was a bit pricey though, at $120.

Wow- $120 for a Duralast? Thats expensive. I got a facotry Jaguar battery from Jaguar of Rockville, MD for $124.xx. Definately worth the extra $5 for a factory battery.

The Duralast has a 3 year replacement and 8 year pro rating. I don't think Jaguar would do that. I also got the 94r-drl, I think that is the number, It has more CCA then the stock battery as well. [8D]

RE: Battery questions?
my factory battery was by VARTA, the dealer replacement that I just got was an Interstate that looks almost identical.
The X-Type is a fairly electronic car and the charging system is more complicated than many other cars. there is even a temperature sensor on the battery housing to help manage proper charging. I dont doubt that your car has been working fine for a year but technically, the cover should be on for the system to work its best.

RE: Battery questions?
there is no temperature sensor on the battery box.. that's just a place to plug the plug in.. originally the cars come with a transit relay on the batteryand the connector plugs into it.. keeping certain circuits able to get power. so the battery does not die... while shipping the car.

I bought a deca battery...the only place that had a battery to fit and I think I paid either 110-120...worked great for me sine than...As others have said I wouldn't want to increase the battery size or anything just because the electrical systems in these cars are too expensive to fix...

RE: Battery questions?
Hello, I just replaced my battery tonight in my 02 x-type with an Interstatebattery MTP-H7 (85 months) that is made for Jaguar. It fits perfect and mirrors the Original battery. I reapplied the foam insulator from the old battery and reused the vent tube. Jag dealers wanted $141 to 171 for Jag bat and I paid $130 and save gas since dealer is an hour drive from me.If this helps you need one go to the http://www.interstatebatteries.com/estore/and you can find a distributor.
