Default A/C question

Hey I have a 02 x type 3.0 and well my a/c blows nice cold air in the morning and at night. But during the day when its hot, it blows just regular from outside n barely even gets cool. Do you all think I should put some freeon? Or is it just because its hot outside?

I would check the pressures first before venturing in adding freon. This symptom could be other issues besides low freon. If you were low on freon you would not have cold air first thing in the morning, especially in TX.

Does the air blow out colder when driving? If so, that could be your compressor valve operation not working to full capacity..

Check out this bulletin:

Good Luck

Check the output temperature at the vents - differential should be 30 degrees less than ambient temperature outside. Check it with the lowest setting with the recirc button on - you should be getting at least 50 degrees or lower coming out of the vents. (say sub 60 degrees for TX) check the temp at all vents.

If the air is blowing out colder when driving your issue could be in order of highest probability:

1) Compressor Valve Operation (Read my last post)
2) Low Freon (Checking pressures will be the tell tale sign)
3) DCCV Solenoid Failure - Circulating Hot Fluid counteracting the AC system (if you have one - not sure I'm an S Type guy)
4) Other AC Related Issue - Leak, Blocked Expansion Valve, etc.

Hope this helps...

Am I correct when reading this TSB that they want you to put the spring on the outside of the valve as opposed to the inside of the valve?

After living with poor a/c for five years since I bought the car finally performed work as per TSB. A/C now blows colder than ever. Other than evacuate and recharge takes about ten minutes. Anyone with a little mechanical ability should be able to perform.

I had similar issue before, lot of guys here tried to help me out. But still there are couple possibility of issues here and also you have to take into account of your own skills.

My recommendation: Find a trusted mechanic who would tried to help you rather than talking money first. It would save you time, money and stress. Trust me I'm speaking from experience.

Recently I have rear differential issue, I have him looked, he said he can work on it but he would prefer having jaguar mechanic on it just because. He earned lot of respect from me.

I'm sorry this is not the help you were looking for, but I learned this hard way. Have local trusted mechanic be your guy and you'll have piece of mind.

Default Spring Question on aftermarket new compressor and freon amnt.

Im putting in a new compressor on 2002 x type. I've taken the time to video the removal of the orifice tube expansion valve use 7/8" wrench and small 3/4 not much room wrench must be small or cut down to 5 or so inches.

So on this new compressor, should I reverse the order of the spring on the new compressor from discount ac parts?

I'm going to flush the system with product from Nappa and a 150 psi compressor and the flush kit I got from granger. the x type label under the bonnet says 12.5 oz +- 1 oz. I'm hoping that is for after you flush a system.
