Unhappy Need help Issue with O2 sensor p1647 - Resolved

Hi
P1647 code came up,

This code is for a front O2 SENSOR

What I have tried:

The he wire connector that is between the battery and radiator, i disconnected it and then switched on ignition and then tested with the multymetre. Incoming Vaults are 8.20volts.
I did the same test for the rear O2 Sensor and in that its the same volts.

I dont understand if theres a problem with the sensor. Can anyone confirm that its not a wiring issue as on both wires its the same valtage with ignition on.

Can anyone advice me on how to sort the problem out and how to go about it.

I dont want to spend lots money and effort and replace O2 SENSOR only for the codes to come back.

I have attached the picture for your better understanding.

the tests i have done so far were they right to do?

Any advice is helpful

I just got the same code two days ago. It should be the upstream O2 sensor, under the airbox, if you DO need to replace your sensor the cheapest I found was the Denso 234-9029 on amazon.com

Good luck man.

P1647 has to do with an linear O2 sensor chip - bank 2 - best bet - change out the O2 sensor (www.rockauto.com has good prices as well - Denso is a good choice) Remember to use the forum discount for 5% off...

Had to replace mine early last year I think, I did write up how to do it at the time, you should find it if you do a search. Front one is easier to do than rear one, I had same code 1647 replacing it and clearing code fixed it. Its still running fine over a year later. The only thing I would say from my own experience, fit a genuine Jag one, I tried a cheaper generic one that I had to fit the connecting plug on, and it failed very quickly and I had to replace it again. Genuine Jag one no problem! Best of luck,

There are many aftermarket O2 sensors that are "plug and play" to the O2 harness - sounds like you purchased a univeral O2 sensor and spliced it in... cheaper yes, but spend the few extra $$$ and get a direct fit O2 sensor.. just my $0.02

+1 to the Upstream HO2 Sensor

However, located in Edinburgh, the recommendations for parts suppliers in the US aren't going to be a cost effective solution for you.

The lowest cost I can find for an OE Jaguar part today (26th Oct 2012) in the UK is from Hatfields Jaguar - Sheffield:

Genuine Jaguar X-Type / XK Upstream Oxygen Sensor | eBay

Thumbs up Quick Update

Quick Update

First removed Oxygen Sensor and tried to clean off carbon and dirt. Fiteed it back but still problem was not solved.

I then bought new Oxygen Sensor from ebay 80pounds and once i fitted it the car is fine and problem solved.

How to replace front Oxygen Sensor:

Disconnect Battery
Release Coolant
Take out Air box
Disconnect Coolant hose

and you will see the sensor in front of you

Thankyou
