Default odd misfire

so a month or so ago i had replaced my plugs and coils.
A week or so later i get a cyl 4 misfire...pending code, when under a heavy load, say up a steep hill.
So i replace that coil and all is good for another week or so and i then i start getting the flashing engine light when going up a hill, so i check for pending codes and again there is a cylinder 4 misfire.
Today i put on another coil and will see how it goes this week.
If not the coil, what else could be causing a misfire under heavy load only?... bad spark plug?

Yeap spark plug. I did a coil swap between cylinders and still had same cylinder misfire with different coil. Replaced the plug and misfire ceased.

iownme, the spark plug is a good starting point. The next point I would be looking at is the lugs behind the passenger headlight. It may be possible you are getting a little bit of corrosion there and it is causing things to start to act a little flaky.

What brand and type of spark plug did you go with? Iridium?

I'd like to know if anyone has installed Pulstar plugs in their X. Found it's recommendation on autoanything specifically for Jaguar X type. A bit spendy @ $18 each.

Features
  • Stoke the fire in your engine’s belly with Pulstar Spark Plugs
  • Cranks out 5,000,000 watts for a jolt in performance, efficiency and throttle response—that’s 100,000 times more peak power than traditional plugs
  • Built upon pulsed power technology used in advanced radars, particle accelerators and lasers
  • An integrated capacitor accumulates and compresses its charge, unleashing a spectacular spark in a matter of nano-seconds
  • Produces an initial plasma field that supercharges the fuel mixture for instantaneous ignition, increased cylinder pressure and a bump in horsepower
  • Armed with a large nickel-chromium superalloy electrode that lasts longer
  • Custom Pulstar PlasmaCore Spark Plugs are available for a wide range of cars, trucks and SUVs
  • Pulstar Spark Plugs are covered by a Limited Lifetime Warranty
