In changing out the lamps to LEDs in my overhead console, I broke one of the lamp receptacles on the right reading lamp. My local Jaguar dealer wanted over $50 for a replacement one. I decided to try to repair mine with parts I had on hand. The main part being a T-10 lamp receptacle.
The part holds the lamps for the left & right reading lights and the center front cabin light. It is a clever piece, but doesn’t like the size of the T-10 LED lamp base.
The plastic part is fed electrically via copper buss bars sandwiched within it. I used a bright light to identify where the buss bars were and cut away the plastic on the right reading light that was broken with a Dremmel. I then bent the copper buss up and soldered the leads from a T-10 socket on the buss tabs.
Then I mounted the socket into the lamp holder using my trusty Bondic plastic cold welder. Love this stuff!
Re-installed the lamp holder and all is good.
Hint: When installing LEDs as replacements for Incandescent lamps, clip or file the mounting piece edges so the lamp will slide in the holder easier.

I know it was a while back. I made a similar faux pas and broke one of the connectors. I had to replace that white lamp housing. ( 2006 X type 2.5 AWD estate )
I am really struggling to get the white lamp hosing back in place under the head lining. I can fit it no problem over the head lining , but getting back in without bringing the entire head lining seems tricky.
When I get it under the head lining it just doesn't seem to line up and the lens cover doesn't clip back in as easily
Any advice or was it just a case of wiggle / patience / determination and hope ?
on these descriptions there is how to remove the console cover, the part with the buttons from the lights, and I did not ask about it. I asked about the removal of the internal part with bulb sockets, which is shown in the photos.
