Well if Jag is still sourcing Ford power, This ones already done and only 2 yrs old. Plenty of technology to make decent fuel economy, but whose looking for that in an XFR type Jag?..LOL ZF has the 8 speed trans already covered in the 707hp Hellcat Hemi. I say throw some Jag valve covers on it with the ZF 8 speed trans, and lets have some fun!

Fords Shelby 351 (5.8L) with some Jag refinement would be fine!

Thats 650hp and 600ftlbs torque

The Jaguar V8 is not a Ford engine. It is built in a Ford facility with parts sourced through the Ford supply chain, but it's not a Ford. The engine is not used in any Ford vehicles.

I would like to see a 880hp supercharged Jag V12 all aluminum motor in the 7.0 to 9.0 liter range. That would be so smooth if you had the correct electronic ignition and variable ratio cam and lifters.

A 4.0L version of the AJ was used in the Lincoln LS from 2000 to 2006. As you pointed out, the AJ's parts sourced from Ford as are the 3.0L V6 and 2.0t I4 engines, and while the AJ was cutting-edge when co developed by Ford and Jag years ago but is now out dated power and emissions wise, this is why Ford no longer uses any versions of it.
Jag needs a more powerful V8 to be segment relevant, the AJ is maxed out in size and power. Thats why I like the supercharged 5.8 it's bigger, more powerful, and new.

Ford does not use any version of the AJ133, none at all. The current Ford V8's are unrelated.

Yes a version of the older AJ-V8 was used in the Lincoln LS, the 3.9L AJ35, but that was the only one, and the story ended in 2005.

The old AJ20/25/30 3.0L V6 (and the 2.5 & 2.1 variations) was essentially a Ford engine (the Duratec) but the current 3.0L AJ126 is no relation.

The 4-cylinder petrol & diesel engines were sourced directly from Ford, but with the new engine factory JLR will source less & less engines from Ford, and eventually none at all. The 4-cylinder EcoBoost and Duratorq are already on the way out with the new 100% JLR Ingenium engines coming in.

What eventually replaces the AJ-V8 remains to be seen, but it won't be a Ford, that's for sure.

With how the market is treading toward smaller more efficient motors. I'm not so sure they would ever go larger than the 5.0L. A stronger bottom end and more boost can always raise the power up if needed.

I read somewhere that during testing they had the 5.0l engine in the 750-800HP range. Not likely in a production car but say up to 650HP most certainly.

I think the current engine is really nice. What I love most is the sound of it.

I would say an improved 5.0 V8 Supercharged. With the lighter overall body using Al, I think they can use stronger titanium (or what ever materials) for the engine / compressor to get a higher compression ratio for more power.

So increasing the engine power output while keeping the same (or improved) fuel efficiency.

I do not want to see a turbo/supercharged v6 in the XF-R. They can put that in the XE-R like all the other companies are doing to their small sedans.

With sales likely to be in tiny tiny numbers that probably isn't financially viable for Jaguar so will not happen.

I actually hate Jaguar for not building a car that is superior above all others in some technical category. A lack of corporate vision or engineering desire to be the best.

Aesthetics are subjective.

Since I'm a huge V12 fan (think Aston & Ferrari) I could really get excited about Jaguar bringing a very special V12 of their own to the party...unfortunately, I don't think we'll ever see Jaguar produce a V12 ever again (I pray I'm wrong), but their current supercharged V8 in the F-Type would plaster a grin on my face all the same if they threw it in the new XFR. Supercharging, yes. No turbos, please. PLEASE.

I can think of only a handful of turbocharged cars that sound good to my ears- the Ferrari CaliforniaT, the new 2016 911 with Sport Exhaust, the Pagani Huayra, McLaren cars, The 991 TurboS with aftermarket exhaust, and PERHAPS the AMG GT-S. The rest sound flatulent and unexciting. YMMV.
