Default Any worthwhile things to do whilst the supercharger is off- 4.2 SV8

I've established that the blown coolant hose on my 2010 XF 4.2 s/c is indeed the one that goes under the supercharger. With 160,000km on the car, I will have the bearings in the supercharger renewed whilst it is out; I am wondering what else I should take the opportunity to do? What else is due to fail that should be attended to while the top is off? Also, are there any worthwhile minor performance mods that I should take the opportunity to do? I'm thinking such things as supercharger / throttle body porting- is that a thing with these engines? I know of the supercharger pulley options that are available- is this worth considering without changes to exhaust system and intercooler? I do not want more noise; one of the things I like about this vehicle is it's quietness and sedate manners until I want it to wake up, I've no desire to be listening to droning exhaust or intake noises.

Change the upper S/C pully. Whilst you have the thing apart clean the throttle body.
Its due a belt change soon, if its not already had it, tensioner pulleys might need replacing depending. I'd also pull the plugs to check the cam cover seals are still holding and there's no oil in the plug wells.

Check all the other hoses, the breather hoses become brittle AF over time so don't be surprised if they crack and fall to pieces when you are playing with the S/C, esp the one that goes from the PCV at the front, under the S/C to the back of the engine - it is a pig to get off and on with the S/C in the way - much easier to do when its off.

Thanks for those tips, I'll check those things as suggested. I changed the drive belts and put new bearings in the tensioners and idler pulleys about 6 months ago. I'll replace all the coolant hoses.
I'm going to have to look into pros and cons re upping the supercharger speed. More power is always nice but if it leads to a premature engine rebuild....

Round the block for me is about 30 kilometers. I'd use up all my heartbeats.

and change the thermostat, if its not died already.

If your S/C coolant pump hasn't been replaced then its probably on its last legs, which you'll need to keep the S/C cool with your new smaller pulley

I can definitely see the necessity of cleaning out the intercoolers as the intake downstream of the PCV and EGR is black with oily residue, probably forming a nice insulating layer inside the coolers right where I want maximum heat transfer. Is this best done by removing the coolers from the engine, or have others done it with them in place?

I believe there's an aftermarket option for the charge coolant pump- can anyone please point me in the right direction for that? A quick search brought up this Bosch pump on Amazon, the price is right bit I'm not sure if it's apopropriate...https://www.amazon.com.au/Parking-He...08931480&psc=1

I took mine off and soaked overnite with a solvent.

I would think doing that with them in situ would be problematic. That residue although "soft" is difficult to budge quickly.

Most of us have used what's called the 010 pump. It's suppose to be a much higher flowing pump.
Bosch 010 Pump
I got it cheaper at around $100 off EBay here in the US.
So I can't say about the one you posted but they all look very similar.

Thanks I've ordered that one off Amazon; the only one I could find cheaper was a seller on ebay in the middle-east with the worst feedback rating I've ever seen! Won't be here for a couple of weeks but the car is going to be out of action for at least that long.

Check this writeup, it mentions a connector and cable set also needed. I got the same setup ordered and my shop was able to swap it in, no issues.

Well I'm glad I read through that thread cos I was not aware there were two auxilliary coolant pumps and I would absolutely have changed the heater pump and not the charge cooler pump. I'll get onto that MB connector too, thanks.

Here is probably the best install instructions from Bigg Will who unfortunately has sold his Jag and moved on.

IC Pump Upgrade
I took the bumper cover off as it's easy and makes the pump replacement much simpler too.
