Default Global Up Feature not working

I have a 2010 XF, and when I go to the menu on the display where you turn global down and global up on/off, the global down turns on and off just like one would expect when pushing the corresponding buttons.....the global up, however does not. When I push the "on" button for global up, it will remain highlighted for a couple seconds, then revert to "off". For some reason it just will not let me turn on the global up feature.

Anyone have any ideas about this?

Yup, my 2009 worked and then my 2013 does not. Global down does but not global up.

The Europeans are sceptical that we North Americans won't kill our kids and pets if we can use global up.

I think global up still works from the outside lock button on the driver's door. It does on my car, I think. I recall complaining about some change to this feature from '09 to '13 and my mechanic explained it to me, just can't remember now, I'll check mine today again.

I have a 2013 XFR and the global up works, but you cannot do it with the remote. You have to press and hold the button on the door. Global down works with the remote. Must be to prevent kids from amputating each others fingers with a remote.

It's to ensure you can't do this global close from inside the car (think about it for 1 second and you;ll realize even a contortionist couldn't do it.

I think global close still has to be activated (select "on" or "yes" in the menu, I can't recall which).

I much preferred the earlier fob control because you could open all the windows and sunroof to release that heat as you walked up to the car, now you have to arrive at the door before you can do this. I bought an official Jaguar windshield sunshade to compensate, very nice quality, works well and not too expensive even from Jaguar.

It's just more nanny stuff.

One thing I did notice that was de-nannied (is that really a word?) was the ability to work the NAV while the car is moving. This was originally disabled, but the updated maps (and I guess software) enabled this feature. Now my passenger can use the NAV while I drive.

I had the same issue with my 2010. They removed this feature in 2010, but if you bring it to the dealer, they can re-activate it under warranty. I have to say, it is of limited use since you can just do a quick auto up on the front two windows with two left fingers and then the two rear without taking your eyes off the road.

What year is your car and what nav disc do you have? Would love to be able to do that!

Agreed I didn't think that was legal... I'd love to have access to it while in motion.

I also don't know why you can't "Global Up" except while next to the car and using the door handle button. Each window has the safety feature of automatic and immediate reversal of the window if it encounters an unknown object -- fingers, neck, etc., while moving up.

I thought I'd read that one of the posters mentioned that the "Global Up" only works from the driver's door. On my 2013 XJ either driver or passenger door handle buttons can activate it.

Does the new Nav maps include "English English" as well as "American English"? My XJ (2013) shows an option for "English" other than American, but either choice gives me the same voice.

I really miss my English Gal. She was with me in my old 2006 XJ. I wish I could get her back. Maybe she was angry with me and upset because I yelled at her and called her names while trying to find my destination in the old car. Maybe she'd come back if I apologized????

My father had me change the voice on his Garmin a number of years ago to the English man's voice because he was tired of being told what to do by a woman. Happened too much at home so he used the car as a safe haven.
