Jag doesn’t change first couple of gears automatically
Guys,
Jag doesn’t change the first couple of gears gears automatically until the revs go crazy high. Specially scared at traffic signal as the car moves way too slowly.
You could try reset the gearbox, the procedure is simple.
Ignition on
Press accelerator pedal all the way down and hold for 30+ seconds
Ignition off
Then try driving it and see how it feels. This is supposed to reset the learning part of the gearbox. I did it to mine as it felt quite sluggish when trying to join rounadbouts, it's much more responsive now.
Has the transmission been serviced?
How many miles on the car?
Have you checked for codes? What are the codes?
You don't post any useful info at all? What is the car? What year is it? What engine does it have? All this matters if you plan to get any answers that will help.
I would change the fluid and make sure the fluid level is correct before doing ANYTHING else!

Hooked up an OBD2 reader and the below codes popped up. I cleared the codes, reset the transmission twice and still the issue persists. The car has lost its power during driving from what i can feel.
OBD
Car Specs
Jaguar XF 2013
2.0 Liter Turbocharged Engine
Mileage: 84000 Km or 52200 miles
All major services done at dealer.
Transmission has not been serviced.
Hi Shiv and thanks for posting more info. We like to help but are all just guessing on the internet!
We don't have a lot of members with the 2.0 L engine so I am not familiar with it's problems.
The code is pointing to a turbo problem but the most common Jaguar engines are SC so again not much if any experience with the turbo versions.
I agree with JagV8 it's most likely an engine problem and not a transmission problem as you have zero transmission error codes.
With the miles on the car you are just barely at the mileage I would change and service the transmission. You can probably wait a while to do that.

Guys,
Took the Jag to the garage. Found the plugs and air filter to be covered in oil. Changed plug gaskets, spark plugs and cleaned the air filter. Low power issue remains.
Removed the turbo and found that the turbine had siezed. The turbo repair guy tells that turbine and bearings need to be replaced along with balancing and calibration of the unit.
cost: 950 usd
brand new Jag Turbo: 2450 usd
After market Turbo: 550 USD
Appreciate your thoughts on why this could have happened and your suggestions pls.
