Default Mahle/OEM Expansion Tank Defects + Check your radiator.

I’m on my 4th expansion tank ordered.

The first 3 from Mahle ended up having casting flaws, leaking or had a sensor with ears not to specification so that the metal clip on the connector wouldn’t clip in properly.

I finally ordered a Genuine Jaguar one and after installing it I went to fill up the coolant and I noticed the top black cap that holds the float seems to have excessive plastic from casting. 12/2018 build date.

Not concerned on looks only if those pieces can break off and clog the system.

I also found the main system radiator extremely clogged up with leafs and other debris. There is a aero piece under the car that directs flow to the 3 radiators in front.

The first two weren’t too bad. I think this might be the cause of the fan running at low speeds for 30 seconds after engine shutdown.

Bumping this to see if anyone has noticed this with a genuine expansion tank replacement.

Got my expansion tank yesterday, I bought it frm Jaguar of Palm Beach, FL as I wanted to be sure it was OEM stock and it is fine, no residue from molding in the pipe and the join line is solid all the way around.I paid more than I would have for an ebay part but as I had hoped it is genuine and looks to be a good part.I have not fitted it as my original is still doing fine but at 48K miles I'm keeping a close eye on things under the hood.
