Default 2011 Rear seat creak!

Hi folks i have a 2011 XJ-L with the most annoying creak from the rear passenger seat just at shoulder level. I need to first remove the seat base and then the back to rectify it, but I cant seem to see any fixings holding it all down, i dont want to forcefully pull the base as it doesnt seem to want to budge. Can anyone give me any pointers on the seat removal ?

I'm another who has not removed an X351 rear seat base but would expect the fixing method would be similar in principle to all the earlier models.

This is the previous XJ model:

For fifty years Jaguar rear seat bases have been secured with screws through clips beneath the front lip. Once the screws are removed, the front edge can be lifted and the seat base pulled forwards to clear the seat back. Have you checked here on the X351?

There is an issue with the bushings in the roof in the 2011 XJL. There was a service recall on this. The dealer should know about it and be able to fix it in a day.

Good Luck

Default Creaking seat...

The X351 seat differs from previous models there are no screws holding the seat base down, the creak is definately the seat back, just sitting in it drives you mad !

Any more info welcomed.

2012 XJ has same type of very annoying creak. Seems to me to come from pillar cover off the passenger right shoulder on right side. It has movement vs left side seat. I can make it squeak withy hands.

All these cars should still be under factory warranty. The only question is if you can replicate the noise when taking it to the service. On my '12XJL I have a very seldom-heard creak when going over really bad pavements. On anything less than dirt-road quality, it is quiet so, I will not even attempt to take it to the dealer with this issue, since I could not reproduce it over normal road surfaces.

If you can make it squeak with hands, that is a good start to show the service people.

I too have experienced this rear passenger area creak noise on my 2011 XJL from time to time, especially when entering my driveway incline. If it becomes anymore annoying I will post someone in the rear seat to try and locate it.

Has anyone solved this creak noise? Do you know where it comes from. I cannot find it 2010 XJL.

I had the same creak on my 2010 XFR. It definitely sounded like a leather on leather creak coming from the LHS of the rear seat. I removed the seat base, no change. I lubed the joins in the backrest of the rear seat, where the 60/40 splits are, with various lubes, no change. I inserted foam padding behind the C pillar covers, no change. I adjusted the headrests, both front and rear, no change. This was all during autumn/winter in Oz.
Now that it's mid-late spring here in Oz, and the daytime temps are between 20 and 35 C (around 75 to 97 F), the creaking has completely disappeared!
No doubt in my mind it's connected to the ambient temp, but I still haven't figured out how to fix it when the temp drops.

Could the creaking noise be coming from the rear parcel shelf, where it meets the rear glass? I had a similar problem with my 2007 Lexus LS460, except that it was in the front.

When I bought that LS460 in October 2007 the weather was still warm in Atlanta and there were no squeaks or creaks. But when it turned colder, the dashboard began to squeak and creak incessantly. Very annoying. Turned out to be all of the little plastic retaining clips at the base of the windshield were too short; they allowed adequate clearance only when warm enough but when it got cold enough to reduce the clearances the front edge of the dashboard cover rubbed against the lower windshield frame and squeaked. The fix (under warranty) was to remove the dashboard cover and replace all of those 5-cent clips with newly redesigned slightly longer ones. There's a TSB on that issue. Subsequent production used the longer clips.

That was just the beginning of the many warranty fixes during the "relentless pursuit of perfection" that was never achieved with that car and that company. Lip service is a far cry from customer service. I'll never buy another Lexus/Toyota product.

Love my Jaguars...so far.
