Hi,

On mine you get to it from the back of the headlight cluster.

When you remove the back cover you can see the connector at the top. Mine is a twist connector and then you just pull out the connector with the bulb in it.

Thanks,

Chris

Hi, I changed my bulb for my signal yesterday on my XJ8. I took a screwdriver and pushed and pulled the whole lens casing to the very left side of the lens to release the clip holding it in. This was the passenger signal side on the front body of the XJ.

Unfortunately, this is not my problem. All other signals work, but this does not work with the new bulb?

Is there any quick answer to my problem or is this a possible electric nightmare?

Hi Marques,

Do you have an X350 as it seems you might have an older variant of XJ from your signature. I've only worked on the X350 so I can't help further I'm afraid.

Maybe ask in the forum for your specific variant and I'm sure someone will help you out.

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Chris,

I am not sure what I have. I found the car on a roadside for sale and fell in love with it. My wallet does not like it though .... lol .... I purchased it a couple months ago and dealing with colder weather and snow up here. It looks like the previous owner had it sitting for awhile and I am trying to get it road worthy again. I only have 3 issues left to deal with. Turn signals, clean wheel sensors and heater blowing cold.

I think from reading all the great info here on the Forum I have the heater and sensor problem figured out. My friend took a electric reading on the signal and it has no power. I am trying to locate the fuse box for it, but all other turn signals work and I doubt it would have its own power source.

All I know .... XJ8 4 litre V8. I do not know how to tell the difference between this and the X350.

Thank you for your input.
George

The 2001 would be a couple years older, very much the same car, just an older version is my understanding of things.
2003-2009 are still Fords, & now have the aluminum bodies
Welcome aboard, look around and ask, chances are someone else has had the same question of whats wrong.

Hi Marques,

There are quite a few differences between the X350 and the older X308. One clue is the front headlights. The X308 have all four round headlights pretty much the same size. The X350 has smaller inner lights from the outer ones. The X350 is also taller and the interior has changed as well as the body being aluminium.

If you have a 4 litre engine then the car will not be a X350 as they only made 3, 3.5 and 4.2 Litre engines in the petrol version of the X350.

I had a problem recently where my indicator would randomly malfunction. It turned out to be a ground problem at the front of the car just behind the headlight. I'm not sure about the ground points for the X308.

Thanks,

Chris

Hi George,

Forgot to ask. Does just one turn signal not work or all of them ? As well as fuses there should also be a relay somewhere to control the indicators. Maybe it's just a simple fuse or relay issue as you say.

Thanks,

Chris

Hey Chris,
The headlights are the same. It must be the X308 as you mentioned
I am going to eventually pull off the panel off underneath to take a peak of the turn signal harness mentioned in another reply. Your reply to this issue reconfirms there may be a poor connection underneath.
Thanks for your help on both subjects!

Hi George,

So if it's only one and not all of them then it may well just be the wiring to that light.

I hope you manage to fix this. It'll be good to know what the cause is.

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Chris,
Thanks once again. Once I get around to this problem, I will post my findings.

Hi Chris,
I now realize when Graham moved me to the X308 forum when I first posted, I was told it is a X308 at the same time. lol

No problem George. Hopefully you'll get to the cause of the problem.
