Default Disable Steering Wheel Lock with SDD

Hello friends,
Is it possible to DISABLE Steering Wheel Lock with SDD on my 2005 X350 3.5 v8?

It is a Japanese import.

TIA

As far as I know, a steering wheel lock is mandatory by law in most countries as a basic safety measure against theft and as such it would not make sense for Jaguar to include a disabling feature into SSD. Also, I know that if a car has been stolen and found with damage, insurance will not pay if it comes to light that the steering wheel lock had not been inserted, which was something you had to make sure of with the older mechanical types.

I have not used SSD for some time now, but I do not remember seeing such a feature, be it V125 or V131.

Out of curiosity, why do you want to disable it at all? I actually have the habit of making sure that it is inserted when I park one of my cars...

Best regards to your beautiful country (I have been there a few years ago),

Thomas

Thanks for the kind words Thomas. I would like to disable iit because it won't unlock and the car fails to start. For the first time ever, it has refused to budge for more than 24 hours. It is an intermittent error that has no reason or logic. It has stranded me with family twice only to start up again 45-60 minutes later. I know for certain the steering lock on the x350 was not an option in the US market. I thought disabling it would be lighter in comparison.
Thanks again for your proposals and observations.

Ah! The issue is that the car won't start, not that the steering wheel won't unlock. It's not the steering lock that is preventing it from starting. Whatever is preventing it from starting is what's keeping you from being able to unlock the wheel. You have cause and effect out of order.

My money is that the ignition switch is not detecting your key properly. As for what to do about it, I have no clue, but I do know that the surround of the ignition switch has an antenna to read the key's transponder. If it fails, then no start.

if you post any codes found.

My considered view is that the key is detected. Why? Because each time I insert it, I hear a click from the REM at the back meaning that this aspect of the authentication works alright. Also the fact that it is an intermittent problem means that the ignition can be ruled out.

Program the IP as new. If SDD doesn’t ask you the right questions use IDS..When it’s programmed as a non column lock instrument cluster you unplug the column lock module and you’re basically the same as an american car.

I’ve never heard of bad pats rings or bad keys on these cars, 99% of these complaints come from europeans who have sclms
