Default Erasing previous owner's nav/radio data, etc?

Buying a 2007 XJ8 VDP today and I'm wondering whether there's an easy way in one fell swoop to erase the previous owner's settings like favorites radio stations, favorite navigation places, etc. Didn't find anything in the manuals and thought there might be a "secret setting" or way to do it.

He also swapped the iPhone he had paired with it for a Samsung before he unpaired the phone. I'm guessing I can just pair mine and it will overwrite his pairing, right?

Theres a whole book on the navigation unit for my 07 VDP, have not read much of it yet. The screen has a set that up, that you should be able to reprogram. Stumbled through mine, reprogrammed it but am at a loss to explain how Was not that hard ,it only took a little while to do.

Thanks, I'll check the manuals again. Didn't find it my first look through, but I'll read them again.

If you press the Menu and Phone buttons for 5 seconds (or is it 3?)

Code in 1971, from one of the sub menus you can erase and restore factory defaults, and clear any other information stored in the navigation module

You can delete Nav data from the Nav screen. It's a bit involved; the 350's Nav screen logic is mmm... idiosyncratic (British polite understatement), but it does make sense after a time if you keep using it.

I'll go and look at mine in a mo' and work out how to do it.

Right ...

- Select Navigation

- Press the 'Agree' on the initial 'Warning' screen

- Select 'Nav Menu'

- Select 'Stored Locations'

- Select 'Memory Points' and then 'Del. All'
- - Repeat for 'Avoid Area'
- - Repeat for 'Dest & Way Pt.'
- - Repeat for 'Previous Dest.'
- - Repeat for 'Home'

- Press 'Cancel' twice (that's just to get you back to the Nav starting screen/map).

That should clear all the user locations in the Nav system.

Sounds about like what i must have done to clear mine. Then set it up with my shack, as it's new home, just in case i forget where i live.

Yeh, the Nav system is cranky. You really have to have a spare hour to sit in the car and just play around with it to find out how it works.

Agreed Partick; WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. Just seems to be the way i'm wired.

That worked great, thanks. Everything's deleted now.

p.s. My manuals oddly show some screens differently than they are in the car so that get's me confused. Similarly, many YouTube vids of the '07 XJ8 show different screens. Maybe there was a system software update at some point that my car didn't get? I know the Nav DVD is old, but I don't know if that affects controls in addition to just map data.
