Default Rear parking sensor R&R?

So, I'm getting a long beep when I put my car in reverse. I found some advice on line and found that one of my sensors isn't "ticking"? I'd like to swap that one with an adjacent sensor for test purposes. Question is... How do I remove it? I saw on a different model that the bumper needs to come off, but what about the X350?

I have just changed the rear parking sensor on my 2004 XJ8 VDP and had to take off the rear bumper, not too difficult a job.

You can use a stethoscope without the rod in the end of the hose.

Place the end of the hose over each sensor - with someone in the vehicle, and placed in reverse, you should hear a high pitched ticking noise, if not, that's your dead sensor.

I found the bad sensor by just turning the key to the run position (engine off), putting it in reverse, and putting on the parking brake. Then I just walked to the rear bumper and put my ear next to each sensor. They were all ticking except for the rightmost one. Now, I just need to figure out if it's the sensor itself or the wiring.

Just buy a new sensor, 99% chance that's the problem, unless you've been hit in the bumper or something. I paid something like $17 from eBay for my replacement sensor (direct fit aftermarket).

Yeah you're going to be unpleasantly surprised at how much crud is under that bumper cover. I'm never a fan of swapping parts based on assumptions, but if it's your daily driver, you might want to have a sensor on hand or your car will have to sit until you get one shipped to your home.

Also, unless you find a used one that's color matched to your car, you'll need to paint it, so pick up some Jag touch up paint too. I think I read a thread where someone was able to replace the end sensor without taking the bumper cover off but I can't find it, sorry.
