Another Part Question
I have purchased a 1997 XJ6 in generally excellent condition. I am in the process of correcting/repairing things that need attention and one is the inner door window seals. Evidently somebody was putting in window tint and trimmed the rubber on three of the four doors to install it. (my best guess)
The door speakers also need to be replaced so thought I would also replace the trimmed rubber seals when I have the doors apart to install new speakers. Now, my problem is that I have searched and tried every term I can think of for these seals and nothing seems to exactly match. Don't know if they aren't available or I am not describing them properly. Inner waist seal? Can anyone help me with this and where a source would be? It is a little surprising to find that many of the small plastic and trim bits seem to be unavailable, very expensive or both considering how many of these cars were made.
Thanks for any help in advance.

Welcome to the forum crvols,
Is it the Glass Run Seal (item 3)?

Trim items are usually the first to disappear from Jaguar inventory but these appear to be still available from Jaguar Classic Parts:

I just double-checked the Electronic Parts Catalog and I think Part 6 is the inside waist seal and if I understand crvols, it is the part he is describing.
The EPC indicates that the part numbers are different for each door (Front/Rear & Left/Right), and vary depending on finish and the VIN of the car.
crvols, if you'll post the last six digits of your VIN we can look up those part numbers for you, in case they will help you track them down.
Cheers,
Don

Motorcarman is correct, No. 6 in the diagram is definitely the Outer finisher seal.
I know for sure as I bought a full set a few years back. At around £400 for the set of four it's the most expensive rubber seal in the world.

I think the inner seal is an integral part of the inner door top trim - No. 1 on this page

It's not available now but even if it was I would guess would be way too expensive. Used part is the best option for this as it's not something that deteriorates unlike the outer seal where the alloy base corrodes and crumbles away.

Thanks for all the reply's, sorry to be so late in responding. I finally took the doors apart and looked at the inner seals that I was told had been trimmed. I now do not think they have as with the top of the inner panel off I was able to inspect them and they seem correct. The rubber seal moved quite freely and I would think could be easily replaced if they can be sourced.
