Default Car alarm

I replaced the cable to the drivers side door handle and latch. Everything was fine. I drove it came home no problem except my viper alarm system was acting funny. The power light was blinking real fast. It would not lock the doors or anything. Then I tried to turn it off. No dice. Then the horn starting going off. So I unplugged the horns. So I thought I would try starting it up. Nothing. I'm not sure if the Viper is not letting it turn on or the original alarm. Right now I'd be happy to disconnect both. What to do???

Did you add the viper system, or did the car come with it?

I ask because, if you aren't really interested in keeping the system I'd really consider removing it. I'm not a fan of adding aftermarket systems that interact with the more complex electronics of these and more modern cars. It seems like with a car like the X300 which is already somewhat notorious for complex to solve electrical issues (when they happen) adding something like an alarm/immobilizer is asking for more confusion.

Mine came with an "integrated" hidden front/rear radar detector system which I removed for the same reason. Plus it was 1990s tech and was essentially worthless.... although someone did give me $100 for it

Nice collection of 90s cars BTW

I'm calling the place that installed the Viper alarm today to see how to uninstall it. Everything comes on but the starter still does nothing.

I just noticed that the door lock button in the center part of the door is blinking. So it must be the burglar alarm that came on the car. How do I disable that.

I still cannot get the factory alarm to shut off, if I lock the doors they unlock. Is there wires inside of the door that I may have disconnected when I replaced the door handle cable??

Glad to hear it seems to have cleared up! Not sure many folks here have a lot of experience troubleshooting the alarm system beyond the basics unfortunately.
