Default Intermittent spark 1994 xj6 3.2

Can anyone help before I call the scrap man??

The problem seemed to arise after I changed the battery. I will start at the beginning.

My battery was starting to fade up to it wouldn't crank at all ,so I ran some jump leads off the leisure battery on my motorhome. All good up till now. I took the car for a run to put charge back into battery.
Next day tried to start but battery flat so I replaced with leisure battery as a temp fix. Car would crank but not fire.
Taking a shot in the dark I thought possibly something to do with amp output from the leisure battery, so I replaced with a correct battery from motor factors. Still no joy.
With a plug tester you can see the spark comes strong for a couple of cranks but then fades away to nothing.
I have changed the crank sensor so that's ruled out.
What I have noticed and I'm not sure if it always been there, and that was possibly the cause of flat battery is a relay clicking intermittent behind headlights(looking straight on at car left hand side 3rd relay along)
Any advice greatly appreciated..

Check the attached diagram and confirm which relay it is (Coils?). Swap with a less important one for testing purposes.

If you still have random clicking check the connections in the relay socket for power feed / ground dropping.

Mark

When you say no luck, can you explain a bit more. Does the relay still click randomly or has that gone away but still no start?

If still clicking with a replacement unit there may be an issue with the ECU. There was a post about this recently. See here...

ECU is easy to get to - for UK car in drivers footwell behind side trim cover on right. Check the connections for corrosion.

It is again an intermittent clicking on relay , if you crank the motor it will stop clicking and there is no real time limit on when it comes back again. I tried swapping it for the fog light relay with still no start.
I will have a good read of the link you sent me shortly.
I have also noticed this evening it is very damp in car around foot wells and surrounding areas. Possibly damp in ecu.
Huge thanks for advice and I will keep you informed

with so much ergonomic advancement I wonder why jaguar never saw the bad position of its accelerator pedal either left or right hand drive
