Evening all, I recently been working on the Audio system on my Daimler Six 1994 and after getting all that working now for some unknown reason the Dashboard lights to not switch of when taking the ignition key out and sometimes the steering lock does not come on. I have also noticed that the Cigarette lighter socket has also stopped working ?
So the steering lock is all working
The Electric string coloum works and on auto setting retracts away
But now the issue is the Illumination still stays on and
The Wiper will not stop when I press it down for intermittent use and when I dod manage to get it to park it parks in random places
I am working my way through the Gremlins only a few left to sort:
Wiper does not park in the same spot - Random areas and wipers do not work as they should.
The bulb warning light comes on as soon as I put the side lights on yet all bulbs are working. All front bulbs have been replaced
I have ordered a replacement illumination control module which I hope will solve the dashboard illumination staying on - For the time being, I just unplugged the dimmer switch which seemed to prevent the lights from staying on
Now the anti-lock light comes on once the vehicle goes above 15 mph - I have checked the resistance on the rear ABS sensors and they seem to be all working fine. I have also removed, cleaned, and refitted the multi-pin plug under the ABS pump.
There is a known issue with dry joints on the power connection inside the ABS module which causes the ABS light to come on.
See item #6 in this post which has a pdf of the repair method attached. it is not necessary to disconnect the hydraulic brake lines as the electronic module can be removed from the hydraulics by levering the ABS unit upwards and removing the two Torx T20 bolts at the bottom that secure the electronic module. Not easy to access but better than removing the brake lines. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...though-144318/
Although there is a precaution to the wheel sensors removal it is the first step to resolving ABS issues without a code reader
In the marked different color 4 pairs of sensor wires they will read 1300 ohms as a basic meter reading
If you spin the wheels in the correct direction , they will read about 1 volt AC
The brake switch is involved also , actually 2 switches in 1 package with 1 dedicated to the brake lights
This will be pin 20 on the ABS connector
In removing the sensors to clean the face of the sensor ( collects grease and metal debris interfering with the signal ) you can push out from the inside of the hub to remove them after soaking with some penetrate spray
If you pry too hard on the attaching mount ears from the outside it can seperate leaving the metal sensor cap and sensor in the hole
If you need a new sensor there are 2 different sensor group of 4 part #s during X300 production
