Default Replacement Dashboard Clock

I’m sorry to be posting so many threads, but the results are so informative.
My latest is what to do with the ‘non working clock’ which seems a very common problem. It is reading but the LCD is gone. I doubt it can be repaired, or replaced with an original so has anyone come up with an idea to fix a cheap ‘stick on’ clock over the other or something.
thank you
B

Oh really! Thank you. Do you know if it is simple to change?

It's not simple. Try to find someone local that does that sort of thing. Repairing automotive electronics. Might not even need a new cable. A skilled person can reuse the old one.

A new cable is the way to go, as the remaining useable length of the original cable adds considerable difficulty to what is already a tricky task, best left to those who know what they are doing with a soldering iron and who have good eyesight!
Worth the effort though, as the result is at least as good as new.

Hi thanks
2 problems, the lcd has bled over the screen, and mine is the Daimler which has extra switches on that panel. Seat heaters, etc so would need to find one of those panels. Unless the clock part removes from the rest! I was just thinking of a cheap flat stick on maybe

When I took the clock for repair to so guy that does that sort of thing and gave him a new cable. He said that the new cable was much lower quality and he reused the old one. I'm not going to pretend that I understand the different qualities of ribbon cables but that's what he told me.

Hi
Everbody is talking about the cable, but my LCD has bled! Surely that’s not to do with the cable?

There are two different clock/switch panels for North America. One's WITH seat heater and one's WITHOUT.(seat heaters and EXCEPT seat heaters)

Some countries also have HEADLAMP LEVELING along with the seat heater option so it gets more complicated.
A search of the salvage yards might be a less expensive way to go.

LCD screens WITH cables are widely available on eBay, they are originally supplied by SACER. Either buy the screen with cable(~60 euros and have someone local do it for you) or buy an already remanufactured one from Sidmaster(or send yours to them for repair, both probably ~150 Euros).
