I`ve got a `95 X300 with the 6 disc CD changer in the boot, got in the car today and none of the head controls would work, the cassette still plays, and the CD still plays, but I can`t do anything from the head unit, not even changing the volume,or even turning it off.
It`s been fine before,is there a fuse or something for the head unit,or is it something else ?
It is a full-on internal repair to replace that knob. Every AJ9500 radio has had or will have that problem. Surprised to hear one was still working until now!
One solution is to wait a day or two. The head unit will start working properly again, when it is ready.
When my premium system cut out, I noticed the aerial also retracted, although there was still power at the head unit, just no sound. The part of the head unit which controlled power to the amp ( separate from the encoder) was at fault. I gave the amp an accessories fed power supply, and all is well, with the only side effect being the amp is always on when the key is on, which it would be 99% of the time anyway.
Update.....had a look this morning and it`s fine !
All controls working as normal,if it goes again I managed to locate someone on Ebay in the UK selling the part that is needed.....hopefully !
