Where is center vent temp adjuster connected and how to get passenger bolster off?
Am trying to remove my center dash A/C vent, and can't find where the wire runs from the temperature control that is built into the vent.
I know it runs down to the right by towards the glove box.
On that note, I'm having a hard time determining how the knee bolster under the right hand glove box comes out. I've removed the two bottom screws and the bolster panel then swings somewhat freely, but is clearly attached at the top under the passenger airbag panel somehow. It almost feels like it is clipped in, but I'm less than enthusiastic about just pulling and then breaking something. So I'm wondering if there are some hidden screws or it indeed takes a sharp pull or other manipulation to get it off.
It seems attached unlike the drivers side knee bolster which is only held on with four screws.
Any tips on getting the passenger knee bolster off?
Then perhaps I can find the vent temp adjuster connector

Here are some photos of one, but still not clear what's holding it on....
Here are a few photos of the same bolster I am talking about, but it doesn't seem to give a clue what is holding it on at the top once I take the bottom two screws out.
The glove box is held in with four screws along the top, and its hinges, but those don't seem to hold the bolster on in any way.
When I remove the two bottom screws, the bolster seems to just swing on whatever is holding it along its top edge under the airbag panel.

Sorry to bump this thread, but I really am having a hard time finding how this bolster comes off and I don't want to break something by forcing it. Any tips are much appreciated.
Also, I suspect it will become obvious once I get this bolster and the glovebox out, but I also am trying to track down the connector where the wiring for the center vent hot/cold adjuster connects. Any tips on where this connector is buried in the dash is also appreciated so I can keep an eye out for it.
Oh, and while we're at it.... curious how the hot/cold adjuster actually controls the change in heat from the center vent? Does it just adjust some dampers/flaps, or does it trigger a heating grid of some sort?

Thanks, not sure....
The bolster doesn't seem to be held in by the glove box and swings freely but I do plan to try that.
I removed all the top glove box screws and that didn't seem to make any difference. The bolster still seems to be holding onto something along its top edge under the airbag door, and I don't want to force it.

Hi Al,
Often the diagrams in the Electronic Parts Catalog or online at jaguarclassicparts.com are helpful in answering these sorts of questions:
Air Duct/Ecu Cover-Scuttle Casing - Parts For XJ Series from (V)720125 to (V)812255 (X300) | Jaguar Heritage Parts UK
Based on the diagram, it appears the passenger side knee bolster or "Air Duct/ECU Cover-Scuttle Casing" (huh?) is attached with a couple of screws on the lower and outer edge, and one or more "Christmas Tree" or "Fir Tree" style plastic press rivets (Part 5) that you just need to carefully pry out of their friction retainers (Part 6). Any flat wide tool usually works, like a notched trim tool, 1-inch putty chisel, or the widest screwdriver you have to spread the pressure over as much area as possible. Be especially careful if you have to do your prying from the top edge because it's easy to deform the thin vinyl covering of the bolster.
Cheers,
Don
