Default 1999 XJ8 VP tank leaking after pump replaced

Hi all;
Have a 1999 XJ8 VP have fought this car for a year i think. Replaced fuel pump as old one was bad. Could not get started at all. No fuel pressure at rail. Opened fuel system under hood.and removed filter to be sure lines were open. All lines are open. Found no fuel from tank where output is connected. Took tank out and found it not letting fuel threw. Pump is good as I checked it again. blew air threw this tank port from both ends and it seemed open. Put together again car started fine for first test. found gas under car and it is coming where the fuel comes out of the tank. The return seemed ok. How do i fix this problem of gas coming out from tank when key is on or car is running? Please help an old Jaguar owner get an ole girl back on the road

Sounds like the fuel feed and return lines were damaged when the tank was removed/moved to work on the fuel pump?

If they weren't disconnected before the fuel tank was moved to work on the pump there is likelihood that they were damaged and responsible for the current leak.

I have heard that the fuel lines are NLA so I wish people would be careful and disconnect them properly.
The tools can be inserted with a few things disconnected and/or removed for access.

have never heard of any special tool for that area. Did all kinds of research on the job before starting job. this is an old car and money is no there to hire it done. Done many different vehicles before with no problems. Be nice if they released real true information form Jaguar for older cars. Not all cars are worth taking to dealer for work like this. Positive help needed.

This wouldn’t have happened with the sawzall method.

Anyways good luck, worst case just drop the rear out the bottom and you have access to literally everything.

Did you look at the Workshop Manual? See the attached pages.

Jaguar sells new 'stuffer-pins'. (the locking and sealing part of the pipe connectors)

There are universal sets of quick disconnect tools but they are usually too short. You may have to make one like shown in this thread: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ank-out-34473/.
