Default How bad would mpg be with 1 duff 02 sensor

Fault code 1647 that's all bank 2 sensor 1
No other symptoms ie no erratic idle or running, smooth running in general. 225/60/16 wheels and tyres at 30psi all round, mpg is 17-19 city early 20s on a run.

Now I know you don't have a V8 auto petrol for economy but thought maybe early to mid 20s city hence would 1 duff 02 sensor cause it.
Thanks for any help.

I'm going to guess you may be in Europe using the term duff? In any case your listed mpg is about standard.

But, it doesn't sound like yours has given up the ghost yet. So here's my description of my 1647 when it totally failed... https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...cement-195018/

As the UK/Imperial gallon is 1/5th larger than the US gallon, your mpg figures are very low (as in you are using way too much gas/petrol)

Here city driving produces approx 17-19mpg US, which would be 21-24 UK/Imperial
On a run we would expect approx 26+, which would be 32+ UK/Imperial

The figures you state indicate 13-15 city and 17ish on a run in US terms, which are terrible mileage figures.

Yes I'm in Scotland and yes duff means broken. Thanks for the link.

Yes a US gallon is slightly smaller than a UK.
I think you read it wrong, I get 17-19 (just) city, not 13-15 as you say. So I should be getting early 20s city, it's that due to a bad sensor, I can get Denso (which is seemingly oem) but could be Bosch that's in it. I won't know till I see it or get it out as I don't want to mix them.

Thanks Ck, I didn't think about the US and Imperial.

For Me9, Denso is supposed to be OEM, but manufacturers are only required to maintain production for 7 yrs after discontinuation of a model. As you can see in my link, I used Bosch, which makes a good product.

Yes that's right but because I don't know what's in it I would rather see what it is before buying. As I don't want to mix.

I didn't read it wrong, you get 17-19 (just) city, on an Imperial gallon, which is the equivilent of 13-15mpg on a US gallon, which is terrible.

On an Imperial gallon you should be getting 21-24mpg city, and 32+mpg on a run.

Ok, is it just this 1 bad sensor causing it as there are no other codes.

That I can't be sure of, but it would be the first thing to fix, and then see if your fuel consumption improves. Like I say, you should be getting at least 22mpg in the city, and well over 30mpg on a trip

More than likely its just the one, but looking at that link I gave you, you can see I wound up doing my others shortly thereafter.

Ok thanks, so I should be seeing early 20s city and 30 plus on a run...from a 3.2 V8 auto that would be good.

Ok thanks, I ideally need to find out what's already in it though as I don't want to buy a Bosch when it's Denso or vice versa or does it not matter.

As for the brand, ..all they are doing is reading the exhaust gases per the determined air/fuel ratio being emitted by the engine. Thus, they are calibrated to that motors specifications, whether it be Denso, Bosch, or whomever. Doing an OEM search brings up both Denso and Bosch, at least stateside here.

What I would be aware of is at least is staying with a name brand, which are more reliable with better quality material supposedly. Most (except Denso) are made in China after time and just rebranded.

As it will be running rich (to save the engine from destruction) it will gradually destroy the cat conv. May as well fix ASAP.
