My new 2001 XJR

Hello all,
I have recently purchased a 2001 XJR for my second car. Just posting a couple pictures here. The ABS traction light is on and I'm going to try resoddering the joints this week because that seems to be a common problem. Also, I'm missing the hood ornament. Oh,well....still LOVE the car. Whenever I press on the gas hard, I tend to slip around the road and lose grip. Will this improve when I resodder the joints? Thanks

Well, you do have an "R"! Even my non supercharged version kicks out in the snow, sometimes engaging the traction control. I ran a good set of Blizzaks on the '94 XJ40 I drove last year which was a set up that seemed to handle far better than my X308 on year-rounders so far…

I found many on eBay that will work. Could I put a leaper for an s type on my xjr? And yes, even in dry roads I'll slip if I really stomp on it, so imagine the trouble I have with Wisconsin's fun icy, wet, snowy roads!

Trac Control makes a big difference, like they said. Even the standard XJ8 like I own is 290 hp...yours is well into the 3's, I wanna say like 390 or 360?
On wet asphalt in 70-80 degree weather at 60mph, if I get on the throttle, mine will spin the tires. And that is running Police-Spec Goodyear Eagle RS-A's... I work at an auto shop that services our local city, county, and DOT vehicles, as well as Local PD and Highway Patrol... And they are not permitted to run a tire that has any sort of repair in it, even if it's a patch in the center of the tread) so if one picks up a nail, it gets discarded. And because so many Impala's and Crown Vics run 225/60R16, they're a perfect fit for the car.
Talk about getting "tires for life"!

I'm running nearly new (aka 300 mile) bridgestone snows on my r and today in damp conditions set the asc light ablaze simply by stepping on the gas at 65 to do a quick pass so without it I'm sure you're slipping a bit in the snow you're showing there. Congrats on the car.

Congrats on the new ride Dexter!! I'm sure the horsepower you love but the breaking free makes the strong at heart a bit weak lol Good luck with the repairs and replacement of the hood ornament.

We've captured the business of several of the local cities, their subdivisions, maintenance departments, etc. They buy probably a hundred or more thousand dollars worth of inventory when added up over a fiscal year between them. And they all run Goodyear, which is OEM Police Equipment in the Eagle RS-A, though one or two of the RSA-sizes has a different product code. For example the police spec tires have to meet a minimum speed rating, which is typically a minimum of V-rated, and many carry a much higher W rating, which falls under the blanket of a Z-Rated tire, which is a broad generalization of anything faster than around 140 mph, which include several more specific specs, such as 168mph...

You might want to look into buying snow tires for winter driving in Wisconsin. We use Michelin X-Ice Xi2 Ice/snow tires on extra set of 4 wheels in connecticut for winter driving.
