So, if it’s not the fuse….
What would be my next step to trouble shoot a radio that will not power on? 2000 XJ8.
I checked all the fuses ( with a 12v tester ) identified in the owners manual with the word RADIO and they all were good.
I’m wondering if there is another fuse that affects the radio but isn’t identified as such in the manual description.
If not, what is the most likely culprit. It was working. I turned if off to have a conversation with someone and pressed the power button to turn it back on and…..nothing….
Yes, I have the code but, no power, therefore, no display.
Thanks in advance.

I am probably totally wrong here - but just on a hunch that I am not...:
I never removed a Jag-Radio before, hence I do not know, what it looks like from the back.
But I have worked a lot on my Sony Radio, which I removed from my old car in Germany and then put it into my van in Australia, and this radio does have its own fuse at the back of the unit - apart from any fuse the car itself may have...
Thus, if the Jaguar radio-unit itself also does have a fuse installed in its back, this might be a cause for your problem...

Having read many posts before asking here, I do not believe there is an inline fuse on the 2000 XJ8 radio. If anyone can definitively confirm this before I go pulling radios, I would appreciae it.
I can't recall seeing a fuse on the back of the radio in mine.
I would however be tempted to pull the radio to check power is getting to it. There's two sources as far as I'm aware, the perm live for memory etc & a switched live. It'll need both to work.

It’s not likely a previously working, Device would suddenly lose power that's not fuse related. Was hoping to avoid pulling that radio out if someone could absolutely confirm that there is or is not an in-line fuse on a 2000 XJ8

Thank you
For that matter, none of the buttons on the AC controls light up either UNLESS the function is selected, in which case there is a red led light that comes in to indicate “ON” position.
Does the digital display for the temp have a working backlight? that's on the same circuit as the button backlights (all green cause of covers on the bulbs). If nothing works it's pointing to the whole circuit being dead which would probably help those who know these motors better than me to suggest a cause.
None of the other adjustment buttons have a backlight. Only the little red light that comes on if selected.
Failed bulbs in those then I'd say as it's all powered off the same multiplug, there's four from memory that cover all the buttons. Tiny things called Tsomething & 0.7w as far as I recall. I had to do one a while back as the right hand two buttons stopped illuminating.
Doesn't help with the radio though.

First of all, thanks for all the suggestions!
Here’s the conclusion of the no power to radio saga.
What I didn’t share with you in the original post, (because I didn’t think it was relevant), was that I had bad front speakers.
They worked, but the surround foam was gone and the cone was rattling.
I took the car to an Audio shop this morning to have the speakers replaced.
The tech said that in many cars, including Jaguar, if the speakers fail or short out, the radio will automatically power off as a protection.
I was thinking, BS but, when I went to go pick up the car, after he had replaced the speakers the radio was, in fact, working! Go figure?

Me too! If the Audio tech guy had not suggested that it said Known issue, I wouldn’t have believed it.
Either that or it’s a strange coincidence.
Either way, miraculously, the radio started working after replaced the speakers.
