Default What is this thing at the bottom of the radiator?

Hi all!

Looking for the drain plug for my radiator, I stumbled across this:

What is this thing at the bottom of the radiator?-dsc_0034.jpg

Now, what is it? It isn't the drain, as that is on the other side of the radiator (right hand). That can be seen on this drawing (part 7):

But what is this on the bottom left corner of my 1998 3.2l V8? Of course NA V8...

Cheers

Damien

Why do you need to know? It looks like it does for the bottom as 3s do on top: holds it in place!

Nope... Can't be that. It is stuck to the radiator and doesn't hold anything...

Yeah, and the part you are talking about doesn't exist in the diagram, so how about just following trucknetjack's suggestion and find out for yourself what it is?

It is the radiator drain screw, it's plastic and can break if you're not careful - left to loosen.

To echo above, that's what it looks like. Perhaps an aftermarket radiator?

That is the factory radiator drain plug!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The diagram is for the X300 radiator. Parts catalogues do NOT necessarily have the correct drawings. NOT ALL PARTS ARE DRAWN. Sometimes Supercharged parts that are different have no different illustration.

JEPC can be confusing.

And if that was the drain plug, then you would be able to order at least a seal ring or so...

You are all right... The Jaguar drawings kind of worried me. It is the drain plug. Removed it and a few drop came out... So it is that. But why do they show another plug the other side???

I have been confused from gitgo! The part you showed in the photo was the drain plug that is on the left side, rear of the radiator? I failed to blow the photo up.

I guess I need to learn to read, as well.

I always place a stiff sheet of plastic in the front stabilizer bar area to direct the stream of coolant into a drain pan elevated nearly to the bottom of the car when it is on a lift.

If you are doing this on the floor you should be able to put a license plate or something to keep the coolant from missing the pan.
