Hi Jackson,

Welcome to the Jaguar Forums! It's great to have you with us!

I have merged your two posts to form one thread. Please do not start any additional threads on this topic. I have also changed the title of your thread from your username to the subject of your inquiry so busy members who may have relevant knowledge will be more inclined to visit your thread and respond.

Secondly, it is very helpful to include the year, model and engine of your Jaguar in your posts since these details can make a significant difference in the response. If you will visit your User Control Panel and edit your signature to include these details, they will show up in all of your posts (see my signature).

You can compare part numbers between XK8s and XJ8s of your model year at jaguarlandroverclassicparts.com to see if the part numbers are the same. Part numbers that have superseded from previous numbers are also generally interchangeable. Beyond that, hopefully others will be able to provide helpful replies.

Cheers,

Don

driveshaft yoke is different, mounting studs possibly as well. xj uses a tripod with rubber flex disc and the xk8 uses a ujoint. you can swap them but obviously be careful

Here's a list for ya, I've used Car Guts in Blacksburg, seem to have a lot of Jag parts more than reasonably priced.

If you are talking about part #1 on the diagram below, it is same on XK8 and XJ8 (same part number).

M.,

You make a good point. Jackson may be talking about the differential mounting bracket/A-frame or suspension subframe. We may be having a case of different terminology.

Technically, a differential carrier is this:

The carrier in the photo is from a Dana 44, which is of the same type as the ones in the GKN Salisbury diffs used in Jaguars.

Jackson, can you clarify which part you want to swap, and what is the year, model and engine of your Jag?

Cheers,

Don

I did not assume that Jackson is talking about the actual "differential carrier" as moving it from one diff to another involves very accurate shimming and setting the pre-loads to make sure you don't get a "singing" diff. Tedious job, much better to just replace the whole diff.

He posted in another thread about the whole carrier and I gave him a list of recycle yards in his area (one I've used a few times).
Don may want to merge that thread as well.

Hi Jackson,

I have merged your two threads. Please do not start any additional threads on this topic. It simplifies things if all questions and replies related to the same topic are in the same thread.

Can you tell us whether it is the differential carrier shown in post #8 that you need, or the suspension subframe (Part 12) or front support A-frame (Part 1) shown in the diagram in M.'s post #7?

Cheers,

Don
