Default Looking for fuel line P-Clips..

While repairing my fuel tank, the P-Clips that hold the fuel line to the tank mysteriously vanished. Looked all over the garage, but no luck. So, I'll need to get them elsewhere. Does anyone here have 2 they could sell me? Or if you can point me to the place where I can buy some, that would be greatly appreciated. All the places I called are "no longer available" Parts numbers are: C104019 and EAC32155. Thanks.

For the E# ones, they are here, el cheapo, and the other, well I'd just make them from a bit of a old aluminum can

CLIP | Genuine Jaguar | EAC32155

Hi Mad_Russian,

I can't recall the year and model of your car - it would be helpful if you added that info to your signature line.

From your description of the clips you need, my mind went to the spring clips that secure the fuel lines to the fuel tank, not the "P-clips" with the part numbers you found that support fuel lines along their midsections to keep them in position.

Here's the diagram for cars up to VIN 629285:

Part 15 is CBC8293 and Part 19 is CBC8294.

Here's the diagram for later cars with the fuel pump inside the fuel tank:

Part 18 is CBC8293 and Part 19 is CBC8294 (same parts as on earlier cars).

Jaguar Merriam, Gaudin and RoverJaguarParts all show those part numbers as discontinued. If you can't find them anywhere, you can probably secure the hoses to the tank fittings by wrapping a piece of stiff wire around the hose fitting with the wire in the slots where the clips would fit, then tightening the wire in place by twisting its ends together until the wire is pulled tight in the slots on the hose fitting and fits securely in the groove in the tank fitting. A straightened large paperclip might be similar to the wire diameter of the original clips.

Please keep us informed.

Cheers,

Don

Don, my car is a 1993 XJ-6. Looks like parts 18 and 19 on the second diagram. I will do an extensive sweep of the garage this weekend, and if everything fails, I'll try to manufacture my own. Thank you for the advice.

One other thought, check with David at everydayxj.com and Kevan at growlerparts.com. They both carry NLA Jaguar parts and if they don't have them listed on their website, it's worth asking if they might have them in their piles of stuff.

Cheers,

Don

I was working on a 1994 XJ40 YEARS ago and lost one on top of the diff somewhere. I gave up looking after a while and just fabricated one from a cheap/thin spring steel key ring (not the thick metal ones) that you probably have hanging on a hook somewhere in your garage.

The kind that is a little more than a circle and spreads open to insert keys.

Two pairs of pliers to bend the metal to the correct shape and the clip worked like the original!!!!!!!

It just has to fit into the groove and retain the line.

Did you actually remove them when you disconnected the tank? Most folks (me included) simply rotate them to release the lines ...maybe they're still attached to the lines??

If you have lost them and really need some, I can take the ones off the parts car ... but it might be a week or two before I can get to it ...BTW these are quite different from those part numbers you first posted, eh?

Default P clips

I also lost one of the P clips when I removed them from the fuel lines to clean my fuel tank. This thread helped me a lot. I ended up making one of my own by purchasing a pack of 5/16" hitch pins at a home improvement store, and then bending one to the right shape with two pliers. In case you need a template to make one or both, I attached a scan of the silhouettes of the two clips with the actual sizes and shapes, so you can make your own.

Hi emichel_30067,

Welcome to the Jaguar Forums! It's great to have you with us. I don't see the scan you mentioned attached to your post, which may be due to your low post count. If you will read some threads and click the "Thanks" button on posts you find helpful, it will help get your post count up so you can attach files and gain other privileges.

In the meantime, please visit the New Member Area - Intro a MUST and post a required introduction so we can learn something about you and your Jaguar and give you a proper welcome.

Cheers,

Don
