what does cpu dpp113108 do
Hi jaguar jon02,
You don't mention the year and model of the car, but assuming it's an XJ40, the Central Processor Unit handles many "housekeeping" functions, including interior lighting, central door locking, power windows, radio antenna operation, gearshift interlock, turn signals, audible warnings, windshield wipers, starter relay, rear window heater, etc. It's an integral part of the vehicle's control systems. Its connections are shown in Figure 5 of the '93/'94 Electrical Guide. Jaguar also uses the terms Central Microprocessor or Central Electronic Control Module. On the X300 & X308 the equivalent component is called the Body Processor Module.
See photo 5 in the album at the link below for a shot of the CPU in our '93 XJ40:

Out of curiosity, what symptoms led to the diagnosis of a bad CPU? Water ingress, or something else?
Cheers,
Don

How in the world did they bypass it? It has lots of wires attached. I wonder if they've somehow bypassed the gearshift interlock or provided direct power to the starter relay? More information would be required to know if the customer really does need a new CPU.

Don
Don don't start trying to get me to lie. have no idea. thought you couldn't bypass anything on a jag. if you could ,i'd do it to my 99 xjr so i could drive it. had it a year and still haven't driven it. jon
This devise essentially distrubtes the power from the fuses to the various electrical functions. i.e central locking, turn signals etc.

Please tell us more about the actual car and the symptoms being seen. Model year of car and etc.
As I mentioned in my previous post, this thread had had no activity since 2014, so presumably the OP found an answer to his question.
