Default 1976 XJ6 Coupe - CALIF to Denmark

Hi again IM back.
Lessons learned ... dont plan to much a head until the Fat Lady is parked and singing constantly under lock and key. ! Which she is.
After the very sound 77¨slipped out of my hands this one got picked up in Gernmay yesterday and followed me home all the way on the rented Flatbed,!

Its a 1976, came from California to Belgium , then Germany and now here in Copenhagen / DK .

Its pretty sound. Haven't been able to find any great rot or rust in need of welding in the buttom or panels etc.. Some surface in the engine bay but pretty sure over time something will pop up
Appears to be a one lady owner in california from 1980 to around 2000 and then eventually being sold from Beverly Hills Car Club.
Past 7-8 years olus in european barns/ garages so its not to bad.

Bad points :
LEft door card ( light Bisquit ) is finished. Needs redoing - have a new pocket and top parts in black
Brakes are void of fluid and no pedal.. wonder why and where but time will tell.
Servo is dry ?? wonder where fluids go to die ?
Air pump for exhaust needs to go
Aircon is there but most likely dead too. ( very low priority )
Right rear quater window is there but not Tinted.. a tinted one came with so that will be fun
3 out of 4 window motors needs to be exercised and greased up .. oh what fun .
Most electrics work ??? Whaaaat .. but need to look at 7" correct H4 units for Europe instead of the Sealed beams ..
AED on teh carbs might need exercise as its high idling when slightly warm .. also rough start but gets steady suoer quick
ODO only reads 63000 KM and yes .. ?? US car with KPH speedo ?
The seat foam on the drivers seat is bad .--- but new one came with
Leather covers are not massively bad but .. PO bought new covers in US for front and rear seat so im in love
Good amount of new spares ( plugs , oil fliter , right side mirror , gearbox kit etc is there so lets go
boot fuel pumps and filter conversion is done but ill see if its all there to convert back to original after refurbisment

Good points :
The car seems solid..
ITs all there
New dash, leather covers , tinted rear + many small spares included
engine sounds really good
Gearbox appears sound
Steering wheel lock is working )
Even though the paint finish isnt fantastic its more like loads of Patina .. ( I might theme it out in a Pan-America Rally theme for starters and just go all in on a respray later on
The vinyl roof is gone long time ago in US and resprayed overthere so all in all decent.
No rust it appears in front or rear window

So maybe try and find some BBS style wheels .
Find a tutorial on the front lowering by Shims reduction , just for a 3/4-1" drop - Rear is fine.
Get it mechanically sound
Get the windows , electrics and interior up to top notch

Enjoy it a bit before winter comes ...( unless i end up coating the underside and continue going . Lol ..

Please feel free to pitch in and dont hold back on the advise, good suggestions , links to treads and forum DIY etc ..

Very nice looking car!
Rule of thumb is 1/8" at the spring is 5/16" at wheel arch. I removed two 1/8" spacers in spring seat and lowered the bottom spring pan another 1/4". 215/60R-15 94H tires and SBC engine.

I expect the speedometer was changed to KM when it was first imported to Europe.

So thats about a half inch drop ? was hoping for a 1" in all ? is that feasible just on the shims . ?
And the lower end pan id need some kind of explanation to.
Came from a world of aircooled and dont mind the learing curve.. : i say now !! Lol

Figure 1/8"=5/16". I took out 1/8"+1/8"+lowered pan 1/4". The math adds up to 4x5/16"= 1 1/4" drop.

The "spring pan" is the support for the bottom of the spring. A flattish piece that bolts to the bottom of the lower suspension arm. If this piece is lowered away from the suspension arm (on spacers), the distance from the wheel arch to the ground will be reduced.

WORKING WITH THE SPRINGS IN ANY FASHION IS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS, THEY HAVE A GREAT DEAL OF STORED ENERGY. RESEARCH OTHER THREADS ON THIS FORUM FOR EXPERIENCE FROM OTHERS WHO HAVE DONE THIS. IT'S NOT A PHYSICALLY HARD JOB, BUT THE CONSEQUENCES OF A MISSTEP CAN BE SEVERE.

duh! Makes sense! I’m metric ( why aren’t everybody ?) lol.
man’s yeah. I have spring compression tools and would undertake without the most care taken. Thanks for the warning though. Springs, compressed air etc are lethal when it’s goes **** up :-((

would you happen to know if the 8” xk8 Recolver wheels fit front and back ?

If the Revolver wheels do it, it would be tight. I'm not sure you'd want to, there are reports that anything bigger than 16" can cause the car to tramline badly.

I'm sorry, I don't have any experience with wheel swaps. Good luck with lowering the front, I think they look better when it's slightly lower than stock.

Ended up silver metallic.

This one is from Germany so I’m happy too :-))
and today I went to a scrapyard and got parts of a series 2 that was cleaned out and rotten.
but for 15,- bucks I’m happy
