Default Engine Swap Options?

I am getting way ahead of myself, but was wondering if anyone has done any swaps into these things? I understand there's a couple EV conversions out there, and SB Chevy motors get put into these things a lot, but I'd like to keep it Jaguar. I recall a few years ago seeing an AJ6 going into a S3 (I think), but what else has been done? As soon as my Series 1 is put back together, I'll have most of a S3 left over, minus the engine and wiring, so I figured I'd find something cool to do with it. I've always thought an XKR motor from the early 2000s would be fun, or if I had unlimited money, any motor from and F-Type. But I'd like to know what has been done and what works, if anyone has any examples I'd love to see pictures and hear your opinions. I'm too much of a purist to put a non-Jag motor back in, but not so much of one that I'd want to find another XK6.

EDIT: Here's the link to the one i was thinking of, it was a Series 1.

search.... This topic has been covered to death. In short AJV8 will not fit with out major mods to the sub frame. Sbc, LS, LT1, AJ6, AJ16 Jag V12 6.0 have all been done and are reasonably practical.

As for being a 'purist' ... so was Hitler. Rigid ideology leads to bad things and general unhappiness. You may want to seek counseling for that.

I did search... I was more hoping for some of the less common swaps. The link I posted was an AJ6 into a Series 1, and if I understand it correctly, the AJ16 is very similar to the AJ6. Chevy motors seem to be the go-to, but I haven't heard much about any other swaps, hence my question.

Implying I'm like Hitler because I'd like to keep the motor from the same manufacturer is a bit extreme...

How about the Toyota JZ straight six. This company has everything you need. That's what I'd do..

A quick search for "Engine Swap" yeilded a few good threads on the subject.... (cough...15 pages)

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ht=engine+swap

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ht=engine+swap
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...tinued-177670/

There are 15 pages of threads with this search term and many great threads on the subject you would find informative.

Personally speaking, I've swapped 3 chevys, 1 AJ16, 1 T56 behind a V12 and were covered here. Might suprise some to hear me say the AJ16 swap was BY FAR the easiest.

You may want to try searching the XJS forum too as the engine bay design is mostly the same in regard to whats germain for swaps.

As for your personal tendencies towards inelasticity...who knows? Work on it.

Civicalized;

Naaah., Relax all in fun.

1. I really respected my Philosophy Prof in college. He taught me of false syllogisms. This is one!!!

2. Decades later, a colleague and I spoke of a VP as akin to the Iranian boss. Ayatollah Komenini!!! (sp). Same lack of logic.

3. Indeed, the latter jaguar engines are tecnicaly (sp) better than the XK. But do they "pencil out" as a swap???

4. Gratuitous, comment. apologies. I drove my "converted" Jaguar to market yesterday. Very pleasant.... I am immensely proud of it. it was an immense challenge, and I met it.

Our 1972 Jaguar XJ6 project (see http://xj6.krissmotors.com for lots of photos and details) swaps in a Chevrolet LS3 (similar to a 2010 Corvette setup) with a mated automatic 4L65E transmission.

Civicalized,
I have recently swapped my XK6 engine of my `77 jaguar XJ S2 to a AJ6 engine(XJ40). It al fits perfect, only the trans mount needs a bit rebuilding.
you can find a lot of info here: https://www.jaguarforum.nl/forum/top...met-xj40-blok/ , its in Dutch language but you can watch the foto`s en use google translate. I just found out that forummember called "Rusty" sells his AJ16 with SC and 5 speed trans because he is going to fit a Aston Martin V12.
Look here to find out more. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-183538/page4/ .
Succes!
