Default Indicator Stick Removal Stuck

most on-line resources say 'now just comes off easy' but having removed everything i must be missing something....
this screw-less bolt-less thing blocks it..

this bloody thing. seems to have a very mangled screw socket but can't tell what it once was

I haven't taken my steering wheel off yet, but the set-screw looks to have been about a 5mm at one time. Use a broken bolt "easy-out" to remove it, and of course, use a new one when you reassemble it.

yeah the tiny little itty bitty set screw had a very mangled head and was almost invisible and went thru a pile of tools to find a 'tool' that would remove it.
no clue where i'll find a new one.
then it came free, finally.

the neck bit and beside it the tiny set screw that had a mangled head. looked like an allen key in it's condition.

inside the ignition stalk thing i have the sorry sight of a broken bit-sy-thing .. oh dear

what exatcly is this little fellow for?

inside the indicator stalk .. all part in order needs a clean and new gel or grease maybe? strange button on the end of the stalk maybe a finger rest but looks like could be a button but stiff as.

Button should be the set button for the cruise control, well it is on mine, should have a wire coming out of the stalk itself, Well, for a series 3 anyways,

Maybe this series 2 one (no wire and stiff unyielding button) was designed for future inclusion of the cruise control, seems like it should be a button but no movement and def no wiring.

will the tread for a replacement screw be a British-case specific one or could a more generic tool shop one be used?

they say 'don't remove 2 screws' for a reason.... four tiny springs, two moulded caps, six tiny cap hoods, two tiny copper rods, a stick, a dial and none of them want to stay together. and then you get the creature back together and find you have secured the top plate upside down in the manic rush. task for tomorrow.

My car (Series 2) has that button, it isn't stiff but doesn't do anything either.
According to the Glove box manual that button has no function.
