Default Odd switch

removed what i assume is a previous owner add-on from behind the dash by the steering wheel, a large momentary contact switch with white/blue/black/red cables out and a fuse on the black.
the black cable seems to make it way to the rear of the car stereo and has an odd off-shoot there, a short green cable to a female bullet plug, the black cable terminating in a male bullet plug head.
the white cable ends in a little forceps terminal while the red and blue cables run from the switch to behind the foot brake where they end abruptly with cut ends and no destination in sight.

figured it might have been an attempt to add a powered retractable car aerial at some point by an owner?
any guesses. the switch was crudely mounted beneath the steering column.

Have to agree with the antenna angle.

Nothing else makes sense at the moment.

What is the antenna now? Powered?

Or perhaps a CD stack?

Power source for music or other toys with boot open for shows or picnics and the like.

My inclination would be to remove it all as a potential confusion
source.

I removed an extremely crude alarm system soon after I got my car... I've no tolerance for even the expensive ones...

no, the antenna isnt a powered one as far as I can see which makes the wiring more confusing but really the only logical idea. looking at it again today and am certain this was what the installer had intended but maybe never got complete.
the switcher worked on another power antenna i had sitting around, so must assume that was the intended end.
radio antenna does seem very 20THC now, eh

I reckon the brain was willing and the pocket to deep.

The S2 is a fair mongrel to fit a power antenna to. They were a remote motor unit, with the motor basically under the boot lock striker hook, and a shaft TO the "up and down" bit, and mega $$ back in the day, and even more mega PITA to remove and/or fit.

Mine all ended up with maunaul up and down antenna.

I agree with removing the unknown, as at some stage in the future, electrickery issues will arise, and the more unknown stuff on the car, the longer it will take to sort.

AHA!! That explains why my antenna was never connected! It's merely a decorative chrome button on the rear fender.

That's OK with me, I dislike a noise box in my car anyway, but I do sort of like to have what's there work correctly.

While we were first looking at the car, I asked about the radio/cassette player, and the PO *Immediately* said, "The radio does not work!" so emphatically it surprised me. (He was so vague about other things, that was one of the Few things he was totally honest about.)

When I took the console apart I discovered the radio had never even been connected to the antenna or speakers!!
(Ditched the radio already, planning a small drawer for that space.)

Thank you, Grant!

Aw?

When we returned to civilian life, I decided I better get a job to support new wife and daughter!!! It boiled down to being hired by an old conservative insurance company as an adjuster trainee. Fabulous salary, as I was a "choice" find. Army officer, college graduate, family, etc. $254.00 per month!!

After a short probation, I was issued a company car. The oldest one in the fleet. 54 Chevrolet 150. Well,a t least it had a heater and back seat!!! No radio, of course. For a time, i carried a little transistor around for noise. then, one of the older guys touted me as to how to
splice in a 6 volt radio into a 12 volt car. 6 volt radios free or close to it. Adding an antenaa was sorta OK. Chopping the dash, nope.

So, we underslung it. A really nice unit from a big Hudson.

Much later, the company OK'd radios and even AC!!!

Thanks, I did. Two achievements. Card reader allows me to see pictures taken with my ancient Olympus. Surplus AF Dell on XP allows that.

Next, there are some on this W10 machine. I'll figure out the browse here for some.

Well, on the W10 and stuff on the other Dell, it didn't work.

I'll play here a bit.

Apologies for any misuse and rules busting.
