Encouraging, $14K and 105K miles on the clock. Lots of positive comments.

Yup, saw it. 5 speeds are hard to come by. My data shows me there were only 172 total made in 93 and 94, with fewer coupes than converts. I've seen 5 speed converts trade for between 10-20k, yes a pretty wide range, but thats what you're gonna get when they don't come up much.

The mileage is getting up there, true. I think both sides did ok there. Fair price for both. Looks like a nice sled, by the way.

Out of interest, if only 172 were made in 93/94, how many manual 4.0L celebration models are there?

How many Celebration models were built in MY 93 and MY 94?

I have thought several times that I'd love to hear what the 4.0 would sound like with different exhaust, other than just revving when sitting! My wish came true with his vids! The 6 definitely has its own sound, and now I want new exhaust! Thanks, I'm sure my wife will be thrilled, scoff scoff lol 😁

5 speeds were only offered during MY93 and MY94, and thus, only mated to the AJ6. MY95 and MY96 had AJ16 engines.

So that would be none.

Default BaT is weird

I tried twice to have them list my 2003 XKR. They turned it down both times. I wrote to them asking why as they had listed and sold a 2003 XK8 a few weeks prior and just got a canned response saying the car didn't suit them. No real reason. Finally sold the car through Craigslist. I have no idea what their criteria are.

Good to see the XJS getting some well-deserved attention but I won't be selling either of mine any time soon.

I tried to list a Land Rover Defender, and was turned down. They sell plenty of Defenders, so no idea why they didn't like mine.

It does seem a bit arbitrary what BAT chooses to list and not list. The site and site participation have grown a ton since the early days, and the comments sections of the auctions are usually very interesting.

There's no shortage of 911 variants listed every day though. Seven 911 auctions expiring today alone. I realize the 911 has been made forever and they are very different cars over the years, but it's almost like 'Bring A 911' sometimes.

Jaguar made manual AJ16 cars in both RHD and LHD from 1994 through to 1996. However, I appreciate that none may have made it into the US. And those made after VIN 221855 are, by definition, "Celebration" models.

I don't know what was the "standard" spec of a 4.0 XJS in the US, but in the UK and other markets, the standard specification was that the car was made as a manual 5-speed. Despite this, hardly any owners chose the standard spec and, instead, paid £1000 extra to have an automatic transmission. A manual Celebration convertible is a rare car anywhere in the world and one that I'd like to own!

Here is a USA market brochure for 1995. That was the last year of the V12 for North America. Click on the images to enlarge. Jag-lovers brochures - a USA XJS Brochure for 1995

Again for North America, 1993 and 94 was the only year a manual was offered in the XJS, and only with the AJ6. The very early V12 manuals never came across.

Thanks for the info ptjs1. I may have found the answer to my original question as well.

KWE are selling a manual 96 XJS and they state that only 28 were made.

Greyhound,

Just to let you know, the figure of "28" mentioned by KWE relates only to RHD Coupes made between 1994 & 1996.

Cheers
