my shocks cost me 30 bucks in 2010 and still work. Even if they broke tomorrow I can't complain about nearly 5 years of use. I have seen a lot about ghetto rigging ways to prop the hood up or modifications like this to hold the shocks up.
I don't get why people don't just replace their struts. You guys must hate replacing windshield wipers.

you had better ask sidescrollin as he seems to know more about struts than other members, lol ol
but my opinion is, if there are 2, how could you unlock them to lower the bonnet? unless you are inspector gadget

I may have a different type. The one strut in the front that seems to operate just lifts up then realeases. I don't think it would operate any differently if both locked to hold the hood open. My question is whether or not the factory set up has one or two locking struts? Oh! It's a 89 Lucas convertible.
