Security code for radio cassette
Hi
I own a 1990 XJS Coupe but the radio failed and I replaced it with one from an XJS Convertible. The only difference is the replacement is designed to be easily removeable (I think they call it a ****** plate). I think the idea is that convertible owners could leave the hood down and take the radio with them when parked up.
I now want to remove it to touch up the paint slightly. However I can't remember ever being told a security code and the chap who installed it for me is on holiday for two weeks.
Does anyone know whether the convertible radio cassette needs a security code after removal and reinstalling (my original did but that wasn't designed to take out regularly so was an anti theft device).
I don't want to take it out then find I can't get it to work again!
Thanks in advance

Thanks Paul
With hindsight I should have realised this - I've got a battery cut off switch which I use when I garage the car and it still never asks me for a code when I switch it back on again.

Then feel the sticker and you be able to feel where there is a rectangular cutout in the case. Cut out the sticker in that opening and you will see 6 solder pads for jumpers. Remove all the soldered jumpers and the code is then 1324.
If it's the earlier face like in this post: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...2/#post1239407 then I can't help you.
Rivguy,
Jaguar Heritage still hold the records including key numbers and radio codes for the cars. If you contact them direct and prove ownership, they should be able to help you.
Good luck

I did this just the other day.
Walk in to a jaguar dealership to the parts department. have the vin number, the radio serial number, your owner ship and a piece of ID. They contact technical, and will be able to get the code for you. Be nice about it because they’re not getting paid for this haha
