My ‘94 4.0 AJ6 has a sticky accelerator at the very top. It doesn’t matter if the engine is hot or cold. But it only seems to be sticky when the engine is in. Once I get past the sticky point, which is easiest to do by tapping the pedal, the rest of the accelerator is smooth. I sprayed WD40 all around the accelerator under the hood, to no improvement. I analyzed the pedal itself, and it doesn’t seem to be the issue. It must be under the hood. Thank you for any suggestions.

 

Jaguar addressed the AJ16 engine a few decades ago and the AJ6 throttle is similar.

 

Thank you. I saw this before, but didn’t think it would apply to the AJ6. I printed the bulletin, and will look into it.

 

Clean the bore and set the throttle blade stop a little farther if you need to.
