Default Wiper Plug

1983 XJS. Trying to diagnose my wipers and want to test the motor. To which one of these holes in the plug should I send 12V to test? Second picture below: is one of these the wiper delay relay? Thanks

The wiper relay is below the dash, inside the car.

drivers side or passenger? Any idea what it would look like on an 83?

Passenger side behind glove box is what I understand, I believe it is blue in colour.

I haven't yet worked out the pins fully but several of them are +12V - at least 3 of them my guess would be the large pins - these are Park (Red), Fast (Yellow), Run (Green) and Normal (Blue), the ground is white, I'm not entirely sure what the 'run' pin is for. There are two pins that I don't think do anything.

Thanks! The schematic describes having the ignition switched “on” - is this saying the engine must be running for the wipers to work?

Effectively, yes. When you turn the car off the wipers stop where they are. The engine doesn't need to be running to test it though, just turn the key to position 2 without starting the engine.

Default Interesting update

Much to my pleasure, I was surprised to see that my 83 has an Electrolux assembly.

Even better: I was able to make it turn by routing 12v directly into the plug (albeit after manually moving the arms a bit, which may have loosened things up).

Here’s my question: based on this video I took of the motor turning in slow mode, is it worth me cracking this open to regrease? Thanks

Default Testing relay continuity

See other video below. My understanding is that there should be no continuity between plugs 1 & 4 unless power is routed to plug 3 (2 being ground).

My multimeter beeps like there’s continuity between 1 & 4, it starts reading at about 0.5 ohms but quickly drops to 0.0. Is this proper behavior or a bad relay?

If the relay is good that only leaves the wiper stalk.

Sorry for a third post, but for easy reference I’m basing my relay test on this:
