Default 2007 XKR Veneer around touch screen loose

The veneer around my touch screen was slightly bowed outward. When I pressed it back forward, I noticed it was quite loose. I can very easily pull it off, as if it is simply resting in place with no clips actually holding it in. Normal? Missing clips?

Not normal, should be very tight. Can you take it off completely to check? There should be 7 metal clips, 3 across the top, 2 on each side and 2 on the bottom.

Sometimes the female part of the clip (which is like a metal sleeve) gets stuck on the male part, which is on the back of the trim. If all you see is holes in the dash, then that is probably what has happened, you will find the metal things on the back of your veneer holding on to the plastic protrusions, smirking at you.

You need to wiggle the metal bits off the back of the trim and push them into the holes in the dash until they are flush. Then put your veneer back in, it should be fine.

I just took another look. The clips are missing. Not in the holes...not on the tang on the trip panel. Might somebody have a part number the clips? Looks like I'll have to visit Jag for some replacements. Odd huh?
