Default Aftermarket Supercharger

I was wondering if anyone knows if there is an aftermarket supercharger that will fit a 4.2L XK? I like the twin screw design and NO, Im not selling mine and just get a XKR... I don’t need all the water pump, 5.0L headaches. Thanks guys.

You theoretically COULD add a supercharger, but then you'd also need to change the pistons for a lower compression and change the cams for a Blower Profile and change the ECU to Blower Specs and change the intake tubes to Dual Intake and change ...... oh, hell, just change the car.

"ALL" the 5.0 headaches? What are those, exactly?
Water pump? Dang, don't water pumps usually go bad after many thousands of miles anyway? Mine's still the stock one at 66k miles and not a sniff to be sniffed, not a wobble to be wobbled.
What else......... uh....... vast amounts of power? Yeah, I'm sure you'd want to avoid THAT.
Plus all the other updates to be had with the 2010+ years.
Oh well, your choice.
Add a blower and it'll cost I'm sure at least an additional $10,000 if you do the work yourself, and probably not work when you're done.

why yes I do. Reason I asked is that I've supercharged other vehicles before without changing pistons, modifying ECU's, changing camshafts all and all that other BS without any problems what so ever. I was curious to know if there is an aftermarket charger that will bolt up to the heads/manifold.

Why waste your time looking for a needle in a haystack? Used/rebuilt OEM Jaguar supercharger assemblies come up on Ebay from time to time. At least you'll know it'll basically fit. Whether you'll be able to get it to work properly without throwing error codes is another matter. Anything's possible with enough money, but it makes way more sense from an economic standpoint to trade your XK for an XKR. Unless you're a masochist.

Options as I see it
Stage 1
Ecu tune , X pipe, 100/200 cell cats, diff ratio change 13.5-13.7 1/4 mile

Stage 2
As above plus more aggressive cams
260/10.5mm lift low 13s
*Perhaps jenvey individual throttles to land you in the high 12s

Stage 3
Forget the supercharger route go two smallll turbos with a air to air cooler and lower boost (would be more efficient than the eaton)

The stock standard xkr are good for 13.1/13.2 to give you a idea

I've bought 200 cell cats from Velocity AP, full Larini exhaust from Cats back with x pipe, doing ECU tune with Alex later next month.

Interesting to see how he goes with the tune on the n/a

I'm yet to go back out to track since changing the diff ratio and larger throttle body but the best I posted was 13.72 @101mph

I'd just bolt on a stock //R Eaton setup and under drive it to keep the dynamic compression ration sane. The Ford guys are doing it on their 5.0 with excellent results. However they also have really good factory level code support to get the tunes right. Jaguar, not so much...

Would be nice to simply bolt on the eaton minus the water cooler system and fabricate a air to air cooler

Realistically a seperate water reservior , cooler and inline electric pump would be the be a very good option .

Unsure what cc the standard n/a injectors are compared to the xkr

Avoiding too high charge temperatures is likely to be a problem.

The R models have IAT2 and pull timing etc if need be. Limp mode if a fault occurs. Be prepared to rebuild the engine...

Yes, it could be done, but why bother when you can buy already supercharged XKR? This would be substantially cheaper path to getting SC than modding.

Before i would go down this rabbit hole i would drop a ls in and sc/turbo it. Already a plug and play kit for jaguars and much cheaper.
I adapted a used ls ken bell twin screw 2.6l to my 05 nissan frontier 4.0v6 and it wasnt cheap. I did all the work and got the kit used off ebay for $3500, 100# injectors, tune, built motor, fuel pump etc all in for about 10k for 475 hp

Sure, you can make the donor ENGINE and TRANS work, but the REST of the Jag won't work.
Rabbit hole is right.... that way you'll have a good start on the grave you'll need for it.

cee jay evidently you have never heard of jaguar specialties that can either do the swaps for you or provide the needed parts for diyer. And everything does work as intended. Maybe you should go check out their page and work and talk to some here that have the swaps done. And if you want a manual trans to row gears. Yeah they do that too. Just because you dont think it can be done doesnt mean it cant.

Hey, I personally can do just about anything. I'm sure a LOT of people can do just about anything.

SHOULD it be done??? Can it be done at a reasonable COST????? Probably not.
There is no sense in destroying a perfectly respectable car to make another perfectly respectable car at the cost of the FIRST car PLUS a bucket-load of cash. You can leave the FIRST car as it is, use that same bucket-load of cash and BUY the second perfectly respectable car and have TWO perfectly respectable cars. - - OR, sell the first car, add a wallet-load of cash and save nine-tenths of the bucket, and buy the second perfectly respectable car.
Course, if you have more money than sense, Carry On!

You know, a 2JZ with the coil cover removed looks a lot like an old Jag I6 but more modern.

Badicedog;
Sell yours for $17,900 as per this; 2008 XK Convertible

Buy this, for example. Not even your dreaded "OH NO, A FIVE LITER!!!!!; 2008 XKR Convertible

I just saved you about ten thousand dollars, two years and a LOT of trouble.

EDIT:
With a 4.2 supercharged, be prepared to be smoked by naturally aspirated five liters, even with their exploding water pumps.
