Default The Cat's almost back!

I was supposed to get my '72 Pantera back for Fathers' Day, last weekend, but it wasn't ready (and I wasn't very happy with the shop). But it appears, I will get it back, this Friday and will head over to Supercar Sunday this weekend. Any other forum members from So Cal want to meet up?

Today, I got to sit inside the car in the new seats after a "fitting" yesterday, required sliding the seat rails back a couple of inches. But more exciting was hearing the new engine/exhaust run for the first time. With the big bore headers and over 500 screaming ponies, the car is so loud that an F-type V8 in comparison, sounds like the purring of a pussycat. Any long distance driving will require ear plugs. It's positively exhilirating to hear. Pictures, sound, and film, next weekend! And the new all leather with diamond quilted stitching interior is just beautiful. Can't wait to get it out in the sun.

tberg,

Jaguar and Pantera somehow reminded me of the old Steve Lawrence song "This Could Be The Start Of Something Big". You have the core for a great collection of cars named for big cats.

I'd start by adding a Sunbeam Tiger, since it's a sports car that compliments your existing collection and affordable examples can still be found. Having 3 or more would give you great pride! (Pun intended)

Well, I was supposed to get it back yesterday afternoon, but a problem with the shifter linkage postponed that to today. I was headed to pick it up after golf early this afternoon but decided I should call first, and of course, they are still having issues. I am not very happy, but have little choice. Probably next weekend before I get to drive her again. Stay tuned for updates.

Unfortunately, I have had a shop that wanted the car out the door so they could collect the bill.

At least they find these things.

When you have to tow a car back right after leaving a mechanics shop, bad day.

Tberg, I thought the 2010+ transmissions were fully electronic, no linkage needed.

We/re talking about my 1972 De Tomaso Pantera, not my 2010 XKR. The Pantera has a 5 speed manual tranny, and it has a bad bushing that prevents the shifter from staying in a specific gear. Maybe I'll get the car back while I'm still alive and can press a clutch pedal, maybe not! Looks like one more week of waiting.

I'd need to sit in a Zen garden to keep me calm through this!

Saw the Cat this afternoon, headliner installed, seats installed and adjusted, waiting for tranny bushing so that it stays in gear (due anytime now), side mirrors go on tomorrow as does the rear hatch, paint to be buffed, and gauges installed on new leather console panel. Waiting also for headlight motor bushings, but that won't prevent me from daytime driving it, conceivably by July 4. The sound of the engine/exhaust is loud enough to create its own fireworks, and I can't wait to light her up in the next few days. As you can see in the pictures, the Pantera is in good company with a Lambo on the lift behind and a LaFerrari back in the corner behind her. Ferocious sound from the engine bay is like a siren's song to me, I can barely stand waiting any longer.
