Default Inop top

I disconnected the battery to install the top remote kit. Upon completion the top would latch closed, and reopen for 6-8 " following other posts with this problem, I manually stowed the top. This had no effect on the ability of the top to do anything. I manually raised the top and disconnected the battery, waited 15 or so minutes, reconnected the battery and tried the top again, nothing. I have tried with the top up and down, disconnected the battery several times all for nothing. The battery is fully charged and I had no problems till I disconnected the battery after the installation to reset the top control.
Any ideas? I am out of them.

Did you first reset the front window travel before you tried opening/closing the roof?

You did re-tighten the valve on the motor hydraulics after manually moving the top, correct?
Also try holding the top open (or close) button on the roof panel for a really really long time (greater than an actual minute) to see if the top re-engages.

Way back when I had a top problem, the over-the-window hinge part misaligned itself. I had to re-crank the in-the-roof hand crank thing in and out again to make it realign.

Since you had a problem while installing WhiteXKR's remote top kit, you should call or PM Steve, explain what happened, and ask him to call you on your cell. He's a great guy and will be glad to help.

Do the front window reset again. Then try to operate the top with the console the first time after the window reset, not the remote.

If it does not work repeat this sequence again. Keep repeating up to half a dozen times or so until the problem is solved. The window reset on the XK/XKR does not always 'take' and sometimes needs to be repeated quite a few times.

After all this if it still is not working properly contact me as suggested for further help.

Default Top inop

I recycled the windows 8 times, still the top does not respond. The top is in the stowed position, when it was in the up position it still did not operate.
Any ideas will be appreciated.
Thanks Joe

Sort of sounds like the pump is still in BYPASS mode. Are you sure you reengaged the pump completely after you moved the top manually?

Go to my contact page and lets set up a mutually convenient time to do a phone call with you at the vehicle: Contact Us - TheJagWrangler

It is important to me that all of my customers successfully install the kit.

Steve came thru. I switched off the one touch, and the top came to life. Ran it thru a couple of cycles then switched the one touch back on and it all works. Thanks Steve.

There’s a switch on the side of the controller box.
