Default Motor? Running near instrument cluster

2007 XKR. Im hearing what sounds like a motor running near the instrument cluster.
windows down in the garage. Left it alone for 10 or minutes. Still running. It’s running the fully charged battery down overnight. Thoughts?

Search this forum for "Aspirator", it's a little fan in the dash panel behind either slots or a grill next to the steering wheel.

The noise you're hearing is from the aspirator, the small device that measures cabin temperature and humidity for the automatic climate control. It's easy to access and fix. See:

Find its fuse and pull it. If the battery is still dead in the morning, then it is something else.

The aspirator fan goes into action the second the exterior door handle is pulled, remains running while the engine is operating and it continues running for some time after the engine has been shut off - but it does shut off! This is as designed in order to have the climate control system constantly prepped and ready for action. Try this test: lower the driver’s window. Shut the ignition off and get out of the car. Go back 30 minutes later and poke your head into the open window. You will hear NO fan noise.

Unless you are aware of this intended function pattern, you will assume that this fan runs all the time.It does not and it is not likely to be the cause of a run-down battery.

For some reason I totally missed the spot where the noise kept going and ran down the battery. I think maybe something else is happening, as that little thing shouldn't run down a battery that quick if that was the only thing wrong.

Sony and sov may be on to something
